I crossed put July 5th on my calendar. I couldn't wait for my 16th birthday! I always wanted to be sixteen so people would stop treating me like a kid when I'm old enough to handle and take care of myself. And turning sixteen was a huge deal for me. I was so excited and full of energy. I just couldn't wait. One of my sisters called me down. I opened my white door and went downstairs. There I saw my second oldest sister, Amy standing there with my breakfast ready.
"Here you go. It's egg and ham. Hurry up though because I don't want you to forget to take our guests on a trail ride," she reminded. I nodded as I went over to the cabinets and grabbed a glass.
"By the way, what are the guests' name because you haven't talked much about them," I said pouring orange juice in my glass. Amy took out a paper.
"Sign it now," she demanded ignoring my question. I raised my eyebrow as I took a sip of my orange juice as I leaned against the counter with arms crossed.
"Uh why?" I said as I took my orange juice to the table. I sat down and started craving my eggs.
"Just do it," she push the paper in my face. I took the paper and grabbed the pen from her hand. I was about to sign but I didn't know if I wanted to sign it because after all I don't even know what I'm signing.
"It's a confidentially agreement," she explained. I looked at it and read it silently. I swallowed my eggs. I kinda groaned at the part where it said celebrities but was happy because it could be someone I like or know.
"Keep reading," she said quietly. I read the last couple of sentences out loud.
"You will be meeting the guests in a week so be prepared. Their close friends should be there a little earlier. Please do NOT mention any of this to anybody. This is a private thing. Thank you for your consideration." I sank a little since I can't complain to my friends.
"Sign it now," Amy demanded. I groaned and signed it. I gave it to her as I walked out. I wasn't happy because I can't believe in have to keep it a secret. It's gonna be hard even though I have done this before but I hate lying. It feels so weird and wrong when lies roll off my tongue. I feel bad and regret that but I don't want to do this again. Not now. I saw Jake walking up to me with the hay.
"Hey, you know I kinda need help over here," he panted. Jake has been working at the our ranch ever since we were like six. I used to have the biggest crush on him because he is cute. He has short brown hair and amazing biceps from being an athlete. He had the most prettiest eyes I've seen. It was hazel with a little green surrounding it. But those feelings disappeared as we got older because he was like more like a brother to me then a boyfriend. I put some hair behind my ear and sighed.
"Sorry. I forgot about this," I said distracted as I took the hay from his muscular arms. He raised an eyebrow. I turned around and went straight to the horses. I heard footsteps behind me knowing it was Jake's without even having to look.
"What's wrong?" he asked curiously.
"What makes you think something is wrong?" I fake smiled. He didn't go for it. I dropped the hay and groaned. Jake knows me better than anyone else.
"The stupid confidentially agreement. I mean do you know how hard it is to keep a secret from my friends," I said. I knew I could tell him because he worked for us so he has to sign it too since he was also going see to the celebrities.
"Well you have done it before," he pointed it out like I need to be reminded of my past. I closed my eyes. Why does my life have to be so full of secrets? I groaned.
"Whatever. Just help me get the ropes off the hay," I immediately tried to change the subject. He nodded. I took my knife out and cut the ropes off. He took the hay over to the horses. We did that for all the horses before going back to the barn. I went inside of it and grabbed a saddle and Jake took the horse named Skyscraper out of his stall. He looked at me questionably.
"I'm giving our guests a trail ride. Want to come and hang out?" He leaned on the stall after he tied Skyscraper to the stable.
"Actually I can't. I'm going out tonight," he said without an explanation.
"Why?" I asked glancing at him. He grinned.
"I have a date," he explained shortly. I sighed. I was getting frustrated.
"Jake, can you wait for a little longer? I mean I know Kate broke your heart but getting a date won't help you get your mind off of her," I snapped. He walked close to me and put his hands on my bony shoulders. I looked into those pained eyes. I know I shouldn't have brought Kate up but I'm mad because I told him to give himself a break from girls but he never listens. Kate was his ex girlfriend. They have been dating for two years and were very serious with their relationship. But ever since they broke up, Jake has been going on 'dates' with girls. Sometimes I wonder why does he have to be so attractive. I mean girls are always on him. It bugs me not in a jealous way. Just annoyed.
"Kate and I had a wonderful relationship. I mean it was an amazing two years. Sometimes I wish I rewind time and go back but I can't. I have to move on because she has. This date will be worth it. Now stop worrying about me. Just because you are eleven days older than me, doesn't mean you can boss me around," he told me. I huffed and walked to Skyscraper. I put the saddle on him as I brushed him. I smiled because he was a beautiful golden horse.
"Hey boy," I whispered as I pet him, "Don't worry, just some people will ride you. Is that okay, boy?"
He made a horse sound as his response. I laughed and smiled. I hugged him tightly. I love him dearly. He was like my best friend that I know I can count on. I set on the step of the saddle and put my left leg over him. I held onto his hard metal reins. I sighed happily. I whistled a horse sound to make him move. He trotted down the trail to the guests' houses. When I got there, I tied Skyscraper to the tree right next to the guests' houses. I knocked gently, hoping I wasn't disturbing the first guest. Finally someone opened the door after a few moments. She rubbed her eyes.
"Hey, I'm Moni. I live right over there and I was suppose to be your guide today," I said nicely. The girl lightened up. She was really pretty. She had beautiful long golden hair and lime green eyes. She was about the same height I was. One look at her made feel ugly and fat for some reason even though I am skinny.
"Hi, I'm Aliticia but you can call me Letti. Niall's fiancee," she informed. My heart sank. Niall never told me he had a fiancee. Not even a girlfriend but I realized we haven't talked in ages. I was guessing that One Direction was coming over. I closed my eye for the moment to calm my stressed self down. I smiled at the girl.
"Congratulations! When's the big day?" I asked fake excitedly. She smiled.
"Around springtime but we don't know when specifically. We haven't talked much about the wedding so that's why we are here since we both have been so busy and stuff. Enough about me. Should we go on a trail ride or not?" She asked eagerly. I laughed even though I was too depressed. She was so down to earth beautiful like she had the most light feathered skin and nice curved body. Her blonde dye fall behind those bony shoulders. She was just so pretty. Why can't I be pretty like her? I groaned.
"Well, I have to get the other guests. I'll be right back," I told her politely before leaving to the others. After I got all of them, they were about four. It was Perrie, Sophia, Eleanor, and Letti. They were all the girlfriends or fiancees of One Direction except for Harry. Harry was still single.
"It's nice to meet you guys all. I'm Moni and I'll be your guide," I said proudly. I always loved my job. They smiled and nodded for me to continue.
"Alright. I'm sorry. I only brought Skyscraper so do you mind if I'll take you one by one. The rest of you can go eat breakfast while you are waiting for the boys," I explained.
"Okay. I'll go first," Letti replied. I inwardly groaned. Not like I didn't like her. I just didn't want to be hear about Niall and his happy life.
"Alright let's go," I tried to say it with enthusiasm but I failed. They still bought it. My life is definitely going to be torture around here but I'm going have to stick and live with it. I sighed. I hope goodness will come out of this little trip with these people.
