...
So I just found out that "popular" girls are only rude when they're with their friends. Who would've thunk?
...Well I'm no mind reader, but all throughout second grade I knew what my mom was thinking. It was about a year since I had a real friend, and third grade year I planned to change that.
Third graders are interesting. Halfway through elementary school. My mom had always told me to find friends that you have things in common with, so I did. There was a new girl at the school, her name was Taylor W. And the biggest thing we had in common: horses!
We both loved riding but she was especially cool because she had her own horse! We spent a lot of time together, because we were each other's only friend. I didn't mind only having one friend though, because every little thing was fun. Even the car rides when we would play Taylor Swift songs non stop.
Often times she'd invite me to go see her horse. Of course I'd want to go see the horse, so I always said yes. But each time I saw less and less of the horse, and more and more of... poop.
Yes, poop.
While Taylor was out riding, I was always on cleaning duty. I did all of the chores around the barn until it would be time to go. All I can think now is; what an intelligent little sneak.
It was still always ok with me for some reason I just really didn't seem to care. As soon as I stopped wanting to go to the stable with Taylor, she seemed to have stopped wanting to be my friend.Third grade was definitely a disappointment.
I remember the first day of fourth grade as if it were yesterday. I walked down the hall and instantly noticed all the new students, with their heads already down, like they knew someone would approach them.
However I was in confident mode! I had my black skirt, my sparkly, knee high, Shake it Up sneakers with rainbow laces, and a black shirt with kinked hair. I approached the one person who didn't have her head down."Um, hi! I'm Clover!"
"Hi, I'm Tessa!". So it is as easy as it looks in the movies!
In class the teacher asked who would help show the new students around, and no duh, I instantly shot my hand up. Hoping she'd pick me to help Tessa, I kept my hand high.
"Maui." What? How rude!
She picked me to help Melody, which was fine with me. Truthfully, I needed friends, someone like me. I showed Melody the whole school front to back.At snack Tessa practically ran up with a "please help. SOS." look on her face. Melody and I greeted her with smiles that quickly turned to laughs, when Tessa said,"She's kinda creepy, she tried to hold my hand."
"Yeah she can be like that. You're welcome to hang out with us though."
"Thanks!"
