Diary Entry Number 43

Dear Diary,

Tomorrow is the Grand Festival. Happens every year but this year is special. I'm next in line to be luna of the pack and due to the fact that I am now seventeen, it is tradition that I need to make a speech. I'm going to sing too, which everyone kinda knows because of my voice. I need to be perfect. I am the face and future of this pack, I need to show the other packs that I am going to make a great luna with intelligence and beauty. What I need now is my mate. Someone to stand beside me looking all handsome and strong, stepping aside for me to make all the important decisions. I can already imagine him, walking in the room maybe as I'm making my speech and making eye contact with me. He'll smile and we will both just know. Later he will claim me and I will be luna. Enough of my daydreams. I need to stay focused on my speech and singing being that all three of the other packs will be there. The Grand Festival is on our territory this year so it needs to be entertaining and flawless.

" And now, give a warm round of applause for the future luna of the Dawn Pack Paige!" Leslie says into her mic.

I walk onstage with agility and grace which most people would find hard with heels this high. Leslie's amber hair is made into a beautiful french twist, and her blue eyes sparkle like a million diamonds. Her blue dress enhances her curves. I can never get over how beautiful she is. My heart skips a beat as she hands me the microphone and smiles at me encouragingly.

I take the microphone and look directly at the crowd flashing my perfect onstage smile.

" I would like to thank all three packs for turning up tonight for the 18th annual Grand Festival! I am so pleased to have the honour of being Dawn Pack's future luna. I find peace and friendship to be an extremely important aspect of our pack's relationship with yours, and I would like to sing you all a song that reminds me of how important peace really is."

I relax letting the song pour out of me. Everyones eyes are on me, and I know I have them entranced. I am on the second last verse, when I see the door open and close in my peripheral vision.

My eyes make contact with the most beautiful pair of brown eyes I have ever seen.

My heart screams mate and my head spins.

It is a girl.

I gasp.

I choked on my song.
