As Jah'Mehgan and I looked over our menu's I couldn't help but stare out at her from over mines, she'd grown into this beautiful woman. She had really grown into her Trinidadian, and Bahamian looks, anyways as I continued to stare at her the waitress came over to the table.

"Have you guys thought about what you would like to eat?" The light-skinned girl asked.

"Yes, I'll have the Grilled Pork chops,' Mehgan smiled.

"Okay, and what sides would you like with that?"

"I'll take the Mashed Potatoes,"

"Okay, and you sir?" She asked turning attention towards me.

"Um, let me see, I want the Grilled Rib-Eye Steak," I replied.

"Okay, would you like fries with that, sir?"

"Yes,"

"Okay, what would you like to drink?" She asked before walking off.

We told her what we wanted to drink she told us okay and walked off, soon as she walked off Mehgan looked at me smiled and licked her lips. I swear sometimes she reminded me of a dude but I guess it was because she hung around me and my brother so much that she picked up our ways.

"So, tell me what's been going with you?" She asked.

"Nothing, same ole same ole," I replied.

"So how's your mom, and brother?"

"My mom is fine but as for my brother he died like three years ago," I say sighing.

"What? What happened?" She asked raising her voice but lowering it once she realized everyone was looking at her.

"He got shot in a drive-by," I replied.

"Wow, I'm sorry to hear that bestie," She sighed.

"It's good I'm just happy to be away from NO you know what I mean?"

"Yeah, because it ain't no joke down there they be tripping," She says shaking her head.

I nodded my head because they did a lot down there, every time you turn around someone's getting shot, it was like a way of living down there. But once you've stayed there all of your life, you got used to it. Anyways as Mehgan and I continued to talk and catch up our food came. Once she sat the food down, we said our grace started eating and continued with our conversation. It felt good to actually see my bestie again, now we could hang out just like we did back at home.
