Luna was sitting on the floor, surrounded by a very thin silver barrier, her hair changed colour under her command: One moment the darkest black, the next, brightest silver, followed by the deepest red, and light green as well. Julius walked into the room, and smiled warmly at her as he saw the quick changes in her progress.
"That's enough for today, Luna." He said.
The barrier dropped, and the girl opened her eyes, which slowly returned to their light green colour from the silver they had acquired. Her hair went back to its original dark brown. She stood up.
"You are doing well." Her master praised her.
"I canna control the transformation in mist yet." The brunette approached the only window, and gazed through it, leaning on the window sill, resting her chin onto her hand, part of her hair covering her left eye.
The Clockmaker approached her, and brushed the stray tresses away from her face, tucking it behind her ear, a few stubborn strands setting free in the process.
"You have such beautiful eyes, why cover them?"
The girl fixed her hair and leaned forward on the window sill feeling the breeze on her now uncovered face.
"You are thinking about them." The blue haired said suddenly.
"Eh?" The girl looked back at him.
"The people in your world" He joined her by the window. "They are all fine, especially those two you care about so much, a bit worried, but fine nevertheless."
Luna sighed in relief, but kept quiet. They watched as through one of the paths leading to the Tower; one person walked, approaching quickly. It can't be Julius thought as he recognized the Hatter.
"Put on your mask" He said. The girl moved away from the window and obeyed.
"Who is it?" She asked, reassuming the English accent.
"The Hatter" The blue haired answered, turning away from the window "Come, we should prepare to receive our guest."
Luna nodded and followed her master to the kitchen, where she put water to boil. She had just finished preparing when she heard the door being knocked. She looked at her master for instructions and he nodded as the person kept insisting, the brunette rushed to attend the door.
"Good morning, sir." She greeted with a smile as she opened the door.
"Miss" Blood nodded as he stepped inside "is the Mortician in?"
"Master will be joining us shortly." The girl answered, suppressing a grimace as she knew Julius despised that name. "Shall I offer you a drink while you wait?"
"Tea will do." The Hatter replied.
"Have a seat, please. I'll be right back." The brunette smiled politely before going away.
Left on his own, the mafia boss sat down and looked around at the simple decoration of the hall.
"I wonder" The Clockmaker's voice called him from his thoughts "what is it that brought the Hatter to us now."
"A rumour, Mortician" Blood answered "even after I've met her, I can't believe that you, of all people, have taken in an apprentice." Julius glared at him "I wonder if that girl, the so called Clockmaker's Apprentice, is the ray of sunlight melting your icy heart."
"I thought my private life was of no interest to you." The blue haired answered harshly.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm just curious on how she looks behind the mask." Blood replied coldly.
