Sick bed Part 1

'the whole situation is just getting out of hands

just flipping through some books

I still wonder why you warn me about opening those books

dad just wake up and give me a smile once more

I cant be left alone in this planet

the mother you said was going come pick me up I don't know what she looks like

is the tabernacle of doom is really calling you as you said

make me believe you will  be back to keep  me company'

I kept speaking to my self as I watched my dad breath heavily on the hospital bed, that loving smile that was always on his face never came back. he had been lying there for almost a week now and I have not been home since then because I have never stayed away from him before

'you need to get to your mum son' one of the nurses spoke to me after several attempt to get me something to eat but I refused

'are you my mum or do you know where she is' I asked her as tears welled up in my eyes. my mates in school always told my how their mums was very pretty. they told me how she would kiss them goodbye before they went to school and how she would always pack their food for them in their lunch bag. but I never experienced what a love a mother could feel like, I just had my dad for me but now he's lying helplessly on the sick bed.

'I'm sorry son...but I'm not your mum, she should be at home waiting for you to return'...how could she say such a thing even from all the movies I have watched, a mum can liberally leave her 6years old son in the hospital alone to care for the father and she goes home to rest expecting to son to be happy in the fathers present condition.

'I don't know who my mother is..i have never seen her' I told her making understand my previous sentence.

'I'm sorry about that, but you need to eat something. you are becoming lean' she told me as she gave my some chips from her purse..

'thank you' I mubbled as I grabbed the chips and greedily ate them

'lemme me hurry and get you some food so that you can rest' she told me giving me a pat on my head as she left...

'Hurry and call the doctor' I heard a nurse scream from my dads ward.. I ran in to check on my dad only to realize that his pulse had stopped. he was gone, he didn't listen to my cry, I wanted to know what happened to him while has was reading that book, maybe he wasn't really dead he had just gone to fulfill a mission because he told me he was going to be back for me...he was checked by the doctor before I was finally told that he was gone for real....no not for real, he was going to be back for me. I picked up my sandals and walked solemly out of the room...was I actually gonna live in that house alone.....

'hey where'a you going' I heard a familiar voice, yeah it was that of the nurse she was back she went to get me some food...

'he's gone...I cant do anything with his dead body so I have to return to our house' I told her

'you really liked your dad...I know he was the only one who was there for you, but just have some food before you leave' I wanted rejecting the food again, but I knew that if I did I was just gonna starve my self to death because I had no idea on what I was gonna eat at home

'I don't know why you are so kind to me, even when we haven't met before... I really appreciate you for that' I told her immediately I recalled what I was thought by my teacher in school. I sat down and ate the food slowly thinking of my next move

'would you mind packing in to leave with me' the nurse asked me after some minutes of silence.

'it would be my pleasure, but what will happen to my dads house' I asked her because dad told me he was gonna live with me there till when he was old and I had a life of my own to live

'it could be sold, that's only if you want it to'

'no...I don't want it to be sold, there are plenty things in there..'i told her as she gave me an understanding look 

I was done with eating, I promised her I would be of good conduct in her place while she told me she was living alone. she then promised to help me in the burial of my dad while I continue with school. she took me to my place to pick the necessary things I needed before following her...I did as instructed, I took a few clothings though I didn't have much of them and I took along with me the book my dad was reading before he screamed and became unconscious....

'Are you sure you want to follow me' she asked me as I stepped out with a small bag full of my belongings..

'we cant afford to live separately now after all the good things you've done for me at the hospital...I believe you were sent to be my guardian' I told her trying to pull a smile after a whole week...

'alright,..... is that all you will be taking with you or do you need any assistance'

'I'll be fine with all these ma... I don't have many belongings in there apart from this' I told her as she help me shove into the back seat of her car......
