This book is set in the 3032. It is mandatory to wear business suits. This cause by the new law that 'everyone over the age 13 shall go into the work force'. Everyone, when born, must get a bar code for identification. The forest is off-limits to those in the city. Those, over the age 13 and are not working, must leave the city and succumb to the forests. Kids are forced to go into school, those under 13 goes all week hours 7 to 3 all students required to study till 5. Boys wear normal silver suits girls wear the suit top and skirts. No pets are allowed in any house as they are distractions.

Half of the US is all business area and the other half is the unknown forest. The people were too scared of its unknown world and creature. Some say that at night you can hear the howl of wolves at night.
