She opened her eyes and saw the night sky, exactly as it was before she was hit by that weird beam-thingy from Circe. She sat up and looked around, seeing the environment exactly as it was before. Minus the villains and heroes fighting each other. Did they just leave me? No, Bruce would never allow that. Would it hurt to leave? Should I leave? Yeah, I'm going to the watch tower. She stood up and was about to fly away when she saw a heap of black about 20 feet away from where she was standing. She flew over to it without wanting to; it was almost as if she didn't have control of her body. What she really didn't want to do was to flip the figure over to look at their face, and yet, that was exactly what she did.

It was Bruce.

She screamed and felt the tears start to run down her face. She put a hand to his chest and felt a heartbeat, however faint it was. She grabbed her communicator and called to the watch tower. No one answered, or even acknowledged that she was trying to contact them. She closed her eyes and prayed to every god and goddess she could think of that someone would pick up. She felt a gloved hand touch her face, and she opened her eyes to see Bruce had opened his and was giving her a sad smile.

"Don't worry. I'll get help." she told him, trying to calm herself more than him. "I love you, Diana." he whispered just loud enough for her to hear him. Then his hand went limp and fell onto his stomach. "Bruce? Bruce. Bruce! NO! NO! No, please wake up. Don't leave me like this. You can't leave me. I need you. I love you." she sobbed and pleaded with his still face. She grabbed his hands and held them in hers, silently sobbing, not wanting to let go.

How could this happen? I was the one who got hit! Why couldn't it have been me instead? Diana continues to cry and weep until her throat was raw and her eyes red and puffy. She had no idea what to do. Her mind was fuzzy, her head spinning. She couldn't breath, couldn't think, couldn't tear herself away from his side.

After about 20 minutes of not being able to function, she finally gained some of her bearings. She looked up at the night sky hoping to find comfort in the constellations that she knew so well. Wait. Those are all wrong. Realizing something was off, she looked back down at Bruce; well, where his body was, at least. None of this is real. This is all an illusion. Her mind went into overdrive.

How do I wake up from this... Dream? Nightmare? Illusion? Am I awake and moving around, and everything around me is an illusion?  She moved towards the treeline, feeling the leaves and the bark of the foliage; none of it had any texture to it, it felt like touching water. I can't just stay here and hope someone finds a way to wake me up. Maybe others have had this done to them and are in the same state. What if we all are in the same dimension? I have to find someone else.

Determined to try something, anything, on her end, she decided to fly to the closest town. When she tried to fly, nothing happened. While she seemed to have regained control of her body, she couldn't do everything that she wanted when she wanted. I was able to fly earlier, why can I not now? No sense could be made of the strange circumstances Diana has found herself in.

"DIANA!"

A far-off cry could be heard in the woods. She turned her head to try and hear better.

"DIANA!"

Bruce? No, it can't be him. How would he get here?

A figure came crashing though the bushes at the edge of the forest, completely dressed in black. It was Bruce. Diana went rushing towards him and enveloped him in an embrace that was immediately reciprocated. Diana pulled back and held his face in her hands, tears ready to stream down her face. "Bruce, is that really you? How did you get here" she cried, her voice cracking. She couldn't believe it; a few moments ago, he died in her arms.

"Listen to me, I don't have much time. I don't know how much longer Zatanna can keep me in here. You have to go to the place where you made your saddest memory. I know it sounds aweful, but you have to go. You have been in a comatose state for the past 5 days, and you only have two days left before you are stuck here forever." He spoke in a rush, but her brain was working in overdrive, so everything was stored and processed lightning-fast.

She blinked, recalling her worst memory. " The Watchtower. I have to go to the Watchtower. That's were I was headed before. That's why I could fly," everything she was thinking was spoken in a rush. Everything was making sense. Bruce caressed her face, whispering "You have to go now. Zatanna has to pull me out. Please, come back to me. I..."

He didn't get to finish his sentence. He faded right before her eyes. Diana felt her heart break a little more. This is not the time to get emotional. You have a job to do. A life to get back to. Bruce to get back to. She turned and took off. If this really is an illusion, I'll have no trouble breathing in space. She was right.

(Time skip, cause I'm lazy)

She was back in the Watchtower, flying through the halls to get to the spot where she had made the worst memory she could think of. She never thought that she would have to go back there, to the one place where she could feel her heart shatter and the light leave her life.

She was barreling back to the place where she kissed Bruce.
