I sit here under the mailboxes, high as ever. Too high to be exact. I lost my friends somewhere in the night and I finally figured out how to get half way home. As I was trying to make it up my hill I tripped and landed under the mailboxes in my apartment complex, I've been here for 20 minutes trying to get up, but I just couldn't balance myself to stand up to walk home. So I sat there crisscrossed, looking at nothing. When I'm high, I think about anything and feel everything. Everything is just better, sometimes I feel like I'm in another world and I'm controlling it. Right now I can't control myself. I look to the stars, and think about how much I love the stars and space. Could I one day fly to another planet, a star, a nebula, black hole? Everything is so blurry and hard to focus on, I stood up, then I just fell back down. This weed is so strong!!, how was I able to get home? Wait, How did I get home?
I hear soft footsteps walking towards me, I instantly turn and raise my fist to put a fight, but I see Logan. Logan Chance, the one kid everyone doesn't really bother. A nerd is what I'm saying, a cute nerd. He was a little taller than me and surprisingly had muscle to him. Brown curly hair, and dimples. I talk to him when I have the chance to, he usually likes to be left alone, but he lets me talk to him. I love hanging with him, but we don't fully know everything about each other. Right now I'm high and I don't know what is gonna happen.
" Kiera? Why are you on the floor?" he stopped a couple of feet away to the side of me. He looked down at me in curiosity. I look up at him with my red eyes and squint at his face.
"Why are you standing? That's the real question buddy." I answer back as calmly but it doesn't work because it sounds like I'm drunk and dead inside. "I'm sooooo hungry, I want tacos, no I want chicken, no no no teriyaki is the one." I say out loud to myself.
"Kiera" is all he says. That's all he says, the way he said my name, meant he knew what was up. I looked up at him, not knowing what to do next. So I started to sing Usher and snapping my fingers along with the beat.
"You got it, you got it bad! You hang up and you call right back!" I sang. No music means I create my own music. "You got it, you go it-"
"Kiera" I stopped and looked up to him. "Why are you sitting here high on the ground? Why are you out here in the middle of the night by yourself? Do you know how to get home? Do you need help?" he pestered me with questions.
"Wait wait wait, stop, too fast, and my head is spinning. So could you please slow it down?" I say with my head in my hands trying to focus. "I I I tried to get home, but I can't and now I'm sitting here. So there you go, the whole story right there. Enough to win me a few medals." I laugh. " You know what I'll just get up on my own and finally walk home." I put both hands on the ground to try to push myself up, but my arms gave out. So I got on my knees and tried to get up. I grabbed on to the mailboxes for support.
"Kiera, that doesn't even sum up a story and it looks like you can barely walk. Do you need help?"
"No! I told you I got this!" I said in a an angry baby tone. "I don't need no man helping me, I'm an independent woman like the Destiny Childs said. Ima walk and prove it." I let go, of the mailbox and instantly became unbalanced but I still stood up, everything was spinning, but I took one step towards Logan and I tipped over towards the bushes. I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact but then I felt something warm and hard.
"Shit, you don't have to prove a point. You can barely walk, let me walk you home." Logan said with his arms around me so I wouldn't fall. I looked into his eyes and saw his eyes glisten from the street light. The prettiest hazel eyes ever. Even if I wanted to get out his arms, I couldn't because I can't even lift my own self off the floor and try to walk. He put his arm around my waist, then put my arm around his shoulder so I was leaning on him.
"Thank you Chance, but I know how to walk okay. Has anyone ever told you that you have pretty eyes?" I speak out as he is trying to help me walk. He looked at me and looked back down to my feet to make sure that I'm walking alright.
"Thank you." he murmured.
"WELCOME!" I yelled. We were trying to walk up a hill when a shadow popped up and stood in front of us. We couldn't see him until he walked into the light. Harry Clint. The bad boy. He was hanging with my friends tonight, but I tend to avoid him because I don't want to get involved with his crew.
"Kiera. I've been looking everywhere for you. Come here I'm going to take you home." he reached his hand out so I can take it, but Logan tightens his arm around my waist and pulls me back. I stand there in confusion and warmth.
"No, I'm taking her home." Logan musters out. He looked serious and pissed.
"Who the hell are you? I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to her. So lets go Kiera!" Harry was now irritated. Still Logan didn't let go of me.
I put my head down to stop the spinning and headache that was coming. "Logan. Don't let him take me home. I don't trust him." I whispered out.
"Don't worry. I'm not letting him take you home. Not in this world." he stared at Harry in pure hatred.
"I don't have time for this." Harry reached out and grabbed my wrist. He had a strong grip on it, enough to cause a bruise. Logan kicked him really hard in the stomach and Harry let go and fell to the floor.
"Don't touch her!" he yelled. Harry got back up and punched Logan, which caused Logan to let go of me and me falling to the ground.
"Oww! Logan! Are you alright?!" I tried to sit up and look at his face, but Harry came into my view and grabbed my arm. He pulled me up hard and held me like a rag doll. He started to drag me to God knows where. Then i hear Logan get up.
Logan kicks him from behind and tried to keep my balance this time. Logan got on top of him and started to punch him, over and over again.
"Logan stop! Stop! Lets go!" I shout at Logan. He pulls back and Harry lays there unconscious and bleeding. Logan gets up and walks to me and helps me up. I still need to lean on him, I'm starting to focus better now. We continue to walk and I look back to see Harry roll slowly on the ground. Logan's sudden tightness around my waist causes me to look forward to him. He was bleeding a little on top of his eyebrow and his chin had a couple of scratches. Who knew that Harry was all about claws.
"I'll clean your wound once we get to my place. Okay?"
"Okay"
