The sky was bright, the sun mercilessly beating down at them.

Deathbringer took a long drag of his cigarette, smoke wisping from his throat and into the air. His eyes were voids of nothingness, empty and dull, subtly sly.

Glory was sitting next to him, her scales a thousand different colours, each scale its own unique shade, shimmering in the light.

"You shouldn't smoke." Glory said. "It's not good for you."

"Doesn't mean I can't do it," Deathbringer replied, and apparently that was the end of the conversation.

The Prophecy Academy high school was a tall, sleek building that was known well for producing high-grade students. Deathbringer looked exactly the opposite of them: violent, aggressive, and teasing.

Sometimes Glory wondered why he got here, and how.

Deathbringer exhaled a long spurt of smoke, the gray swirls twisting in the air like paint water. He stood up, crushed the cigarette between his feet, and stalked off.

"Where are you going?" Glory asked. "I haven't showed you the entire school yet."

"You don't need to. I'll figure it out by myself."

The newcomer was a NightWing, scales black and glossy, glinting at the edges like a dangerous knife. His eyes were coy and his smile was unsettling, yet there was something in his body structure that seemed friendly and nonthreatening.

"I'm Deathbringer." He said, his voice like the cold whispers in the wind, a haunted breath ghosting his face. "Nice to meet you."

"I'm Glory." Glory nodded sharply, and Deathbringer laughed, throwing his head back. Glory stared at him in confusion. Did she say something funny?

"Don't be so stiff, RainWing." Deathbringer said, his eyes half-lidded, lazy yet observant. "So, you're supposed to show me around."

"Yes." Glory confirmed, scanning the NightWing. Black scales with a hint of red, like crackling fire was running rampant in his veins.

Deathbringer looked at Glory expectantly, and she felt a sting of irritation pierce her chest, strong and sharp. What was he waiting for? "So, the prey center's that way," She pointed to the right, where the center of the school was located, and tried to swallow the bitterness that creeped up on her. "And along this hallway, there are class-related rooms like the science lab and kitchen."

Glory signalled Deathbringer to the left, and he complied, though very slowly. The stab of frustration arose in her heart again, more stronger than ever.

This was going to be a long day.
