The Bite of a Jack
Chapter I Matthew
It was dance night at his school, Matthew walked unsteadily to the door and raised his hand for a half pitiful knock. He had remembered the other day when he asked alex to the dance. He had thought she would say no, but to his delighted surprise, she said she would be excited to (something Matthew wasn't used to when being seen by people). Matthew was short and semi muscular, (which made him extra angry when people picked on him, seeing that he didn't look like the type people would usually make fun of). He was 16 years old. Alex's dad seemed delighted to see him as he invited him in with a smile on his kind, gentle bearded face (which reminded Matthew of a thin santa). "Hello Matt", He said while they both walked in "you look good." "Thanks Jack." Matthew managed half-heartedly. Jack and Matthew sat down at the table to wait for Alex. She walked down the stairs slowly, and with a smile, as if she were in one of those eighties romance movies.
She walked up expecting a kiss, but brushed it off once seeing how nervous Matthew would have been seeing that Jack was watching us. She grabbed her phone, told her dad goodbye, and they left. They both got in the car. It took about twenty-five minutes to get to the school, But no matter how many times Matthew looked at her, he still couldn't get over how beautiful she was. Matthew got out of the car and went around to her side to open her car door. When they got inside they took their coats off, confused that there wasn't anyone there to collect their tickets, they just put them on the table (ninety dollars matthew wasn't getting back), and went into the dance. There were so many people just sitting around for some reason, and then Matthew saw the police. Two investigators were taking notes, and asking other students questions. When the police saw them, they asked them to sit on the floor to wait for questioning. All around people were muttering. Matthew heard one of his friends calling his name. He went over and started talking to him. "What happened?" Matthew asked. Thomas said nothing, but the look on his face showed dread. With a single raise of his hand, Thomas explained everything. Across the room, in the corner someone had been completely cut in half. above her written in blood on the window was two single words, "teke, teke".
Matthew was so surprised that he didn't hear alex calling him. "Matthew, are you ok"? "Yea... Im... Im fine". Just then one of the investigators walked up to him and started to talk. "Hello, my name is Damian. May i speak with you please"? "Sure" matthew said. Damian took Matthew into a small room and put him in handcuffs. Surprised, Matthew questioned why. "just a precaution" said damian. He started asking Matthew questions like: "where were you last night at eight o'clock", and "what time did you come to the dance". He wasn't sure what the first question had to do with the murder, So he asked him. Damian had a stern, angry and disappointed look on his face, nothing like his friendly curios face he had shown before. He asked Matthew for his signature. Once it was received Matthew was told to go back to the dance room.
The police ended up sending all of them home one by one. Matthew drove alex home and walked her to her house. When they got there Alex's dad was in the same place we left him, except now with beer cans on the table. He appeared to be "passed-out-drunk" which wasn't normal for him. He's never drank in his life. But she seemed to ignore this as if it were a normal thing (or she was still in shock from what had happened earlier). They walked up the stairs, and went into her room. Matthew sat down on the bed and listened to Alex as she went into some sort of rant. Matthew had no idea what she was talking about. She was rambling things that made no sense to him until he heard her say something that struck my interest. "I can't believe it happened again" she said " i thought it would be over"! Matthew now convinced she knew something about what happened, stood up. he walked up to her and asked her what she was talking about.
It took a lot of comforting but Matthew finally got her to tell him. It was a crazy story, that he could barely believe, but Matthew was willing to listen. All he could do was watch as she went into some sort of trance.
