FIRST THING FIRST: TEACH THEM THE WAY OF THE LORD.
"The responsibility of parents is to introduce their children to God and make them appear before God." -Tope Akinyele
Isaiah 54:13 AND ALL THY CHILDREN SHALL BE TAUGHT OF THE LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy
children. We must recognise that it is the Lord that will teach our children, this scriptures says ALL THY CHILDREN, not some of your children, but all your seeds will be taught of the Lord, you may wonder and say, but how will He do that? Let me remind you a scripture where the Lord says people will know Him from the least to the greatest.
Hebrews 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: FOR ALL SHALL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST TO THE GREATEST.
"Least" here also includes children, if the Lord will achieve this, then He will achieve the one He said that ALL THY CHILDREN SHALL BE TAUGHT OF THE LORD. I will not doubt the Lord, I will also submit this to His care. When the Lord teach your children be rest assured they will not also depart from it and we see the promise of peace from Him teaching them. He said ..."great shall be their peace"..., you know why great shall be the peace of your children? They will so learn and receive what the Lord is bringing to them, they will have no fear as some have it. Then they will know the Greater One Himself, they will be taught that greater is He that is in them than he that is in the world, they will know that the devil is under their feet, they will know it is the Lord that work in them both to will and do of His good pleasure, and they will do that which is pleasurable in His sight, they will know that God is their wisdom and salvation, they will know and walk as light in this world, they will love the Lord, they will know the Lord is in them and with them. Won't you love to allow the Lord to teach them?
Maybe this is the reason some children are not having peace today, because it is not the Lord that is teaching them. Have you ever imagined or wonder how does a child of thirteen years know how to commit suicide or to commit a crime? It's because they haven't known the Lord for themselves. Then it is much evidence that the crisis we see today in some children is because they are not taught of the Lord, that peace can not be found in them. Every peaceful children is a reflection of God's teaching in their lives. You remember there is a way that seems right... It ends in destruction.Proverbs 14:12 THERE IS A WAY which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
This also tells us that there is another way, that way will look right but is not, it ends in destruction. So it expedient that Holy Spirit teach our children. Parents are often the means to this by following the word of God.
Our children will have peace because they are taught of the Lord. You know some teachers in school can teach subject that seem hard to us by simplifying them in a way that we can have confident of solving them ourselves. Now, see the Lord teaching your children. You create an avenue for the Lord to teach them by making known the way of the Lord to them. I love to see the Lord teach our children, help us and also see them have great peace. This is a great work that need to be committed to the hands of the Lord knowing that except the Lord build them by us seeking His help, we will build but in vain.Psalms 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD
keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.It is not bad when our children know the Lord from their tender age, learning how to pray and to speak to God and how to hear the Lord. Paul said of Timothy of how he learn or know the scriptures from a child.
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
