"Jo lets go, we're gonna be late!"

I rushed out of my room and flew down the stairs, grabbing my phone and my purse on my way out. At the bottom of the stairs stood Belle, with a slight frown on her face. She wore a cute skit, with a flowy tank top, and half of her hair was pulled up in a bun.

"Sorry, sorry, I overslept!" I explained, as we walked out the door to get in her car.

"Oh my, that's so unlike you!" she retorted sarcastically. Belle was truly my soul sister... we loved each other to death, but found it amusing to pick on each other every once in a while.

As we made our way to the theatre, we gossiped a bit about the auditions. Belle had already received her role as a part of the light crew, but auditions for the cast were this morning.

"Do you think Lila is auditioning?" I asked

"Yeah, I heard her talking to Jessica about it... Guess what role?"

I sighed loudly, and looked out the window. Of course she would be auditioning for Veronica. Why wouldn't she be? Lila Brays, or as I like to call her, Lila Bitch, has got to be a villain in disguise or something... Just my luck she would follow me to the same college for the same career. Acting. In every play, every musical, she always gets the lead. No matter how hard I try, I always end up either in the ensemble, or worse... her understudy.

"Dont fret, I'm sure you'll get Veronica. You're already bad-ass, all thats left is the look." We both laughed at her comment, and continued to talk as we made our way to the theatre.

Once we arrived, just on time might I add, we ran in so that I could sign in, and try to find Tyler.

Tyler and I met about a year ago in an acting class when we were paired up for a project together. I didn't like him at first because of his stubborness, and the fact that he jumped to conclusions. However, over time we became closer friends, and I found that he was actually a pretty decent guy. One day he showed up to my dorm and asked to go get coffee, and we've been dating ever since.

Although today may be a drag with Lila here, he's auditioning for the role of J.D. and I, fortunately, get to sing Dead Girl Waking Reprise with him, as part of our audition.

"Hey gorgeous, you ready for today?" He said, as he wrapped his arm around my waist, and pulled me in for a kiss on the cheek.

Blushing, I replied, "Yeah, I'm super nervous though. Did you know Lila was auditioning for Veronica too? I'm screwed now..."

With one hand, he lifted up my chin slightly, and the other he placed gently on my shoulder. "You're 10 times better than Lila. Don't worry about her! And if she gets on your nerves, just come find me alright? I'll put her in her place."

"Thanks Tyler, but I'm sure I can handle it." I grinned, and gave him a quick kiss before pulling away.

Suddenly, we were all called up to the stage, and with a quick wave to Belle, I faced the doors, and took a deep breath in. With a determined look on my face, I pushed open both doors at the same time, and strutted my way onto the stage.

"Watch out Lila," I said to myself.

"I'm a dead girl walking"

"That's it everybody! Thank's for auditioning! The cast list will be posted in two days in the front hall, but it will be posted on the school website tomorrow night!"

Everyone in the room clapped, and some people cheered. I understand the clapping, but the cheering? I don't usually like to get cocky about things like this, because then I usually don't get the role I want. But hey, that's them, and I mean... If they're out of the way then that helps my chance of Veronica, right?

I grabbed my purse and my phone and headed outside to catch up with Belle. On my way out, I bumped into someone walking back inside.

This is where everything turns to shit.

But of course, I don't realize that yet.

I dropped my purse, and everything inside pretty much fell out to the floor. My phone, wallet, lotion, some make-up, but what sealed the deal was the good luck charm I always carried with me. It was a small turtle charm I had received a while ago from an old friend. It's kinda funny that I carry it around still, since I hate the person who gave it to me, and I haven't talked to them for about 7 years.

"Oh, I'm so sorry... I guess I wasn't watching where I was going..." He bent over to help pick everything up.

"It's alright. I tend to be a bit of a klutz anyway. I don't think we've ever met... I'm Jo." I said, as I started putting everything back inside my purse.

"Oh, I'm..." he started, before he paused to stare at my hand. I was holding the charm, about to put it away when I noticed the stare. He was silent for a second, but then handed me the rest of my things telling me his name was Chase.

"Cool name, I like it." I said with a smile.

"Thanks... well, um, I better get going, nice meeting you..." he trailed off, and looked away for a moment.

"Awkward..." I thought. I said goodbye, and headed out to meet Belle in the car.

"What took you so long?" She asked suspiciously.

"Oh, I bumped into someone... Chase? Ever heard of him?"

"Nope." she replied. "Probably some nobody. Let's head home. The chocolate milk is waiting"
