I closed my eyes and waited. Mentally preparing myself for what was coming. Sitting in my drop pod, a male voice talking in the background over the comms. "We are the last attempt to push the covies back," The voice said. "Reaper 1, you know your jobs. Let's send these fuckers running!" It continued. Then another voice came on, a female voice. "Ooo-rah!" I smiled and chuckled slightly, taking a deep breath shortly after. I then heard the male voice count down from ten. I opened my eyes, ready for what's to come.
Then the clamps released the drop pods, falling to the ground like rain falling from dark clouds. Through the T-shaped windows in front of me, my view seemed as if I was falling through the heavens. A white blanket of clouds stretched as far as the eye can see. It was beautiful. I looked at the other pods falling along with me, some piercing the blanket down to the planet below. I was taken aback by the view, I looked off into the distance to the sun. It seemed peaceful, I began to wonder through my thoughts, almost losing myself. "Banshees!!" A male voice yelled through the comms in my helmet just as my pod broke through the clouds. I was back in reality, back in the fight. I frantically looked around to see a few pods near me taking fire from oncoming Banshees, soaring through the skies just above the huge city of Dust. Before I knew it, the left wing of one of the purple vehicles struck my pod. "I'm hit!" I yelled as my pod began to spin in the air. Letting go of the handles, I held onto other parts of the pod for dear life. Sparks began to fly from some of the mechanics in the pod, a red light flashing quickly along with the error alarm. I could hear voices shouting over the comms, but in the state I was in. I couldn't even make out what they were saying. Trying not to panic, a large rush of adrenaline filled my veins as I could see the world around me spinning. I was going off course and I knew it. Nearing the ground, I closed my eyes and gritted my teeth tightly. Just before I hit the ground, a name popped in my head. The female voice from before, it was the only thing I could hear in the split seconds. Even the warning alarm couldn't reach my ears. She called out my name, Red, then I made contact with the side of a building. Slamming into it hard. My view went black.Static woke me. It was coming from my helmet, I looked around. My vision slightly blurry but good enough. I was looking up at the sky, the blue sky with white clouds mostly consuming it, from between two buildings. My pod was laying on its back, thank God I was alive. I touched the left side of my helmet and tried to contact anyone. "Anyone there? Can you hear me? This is Red of Reaper 1, I repeat can anybody hear me?" Static was my only response. I groaned, moving slightly, the pod protected me from any terrible injuries but still hurt like a bitch. "I gotta get outta here.." I muttered to myself, in a pained voice. I looked to the top of my pod, seeing the release lever. I pulled it, a few hissing sounds followed by a loud pop. The sound of the drop pod door shooting from the pod struck my ears. It flew up then hit the side of one of the buildings, tumbling down to the right of the pod. I grabbed the edges of the pod and hoisted myself out of the pod. I rolled over the left side and fell to the ground with a hard thud. I got to my feet, noticing I was in an alley way, no clue where exactly but I know off course for sure. I was supposed to land on ft he front lines, between us and the covenant. Being and ODST it was my duty to stare death in the black voids he has for eyes. Then punch the very same skull that holds those two voids. I leaned into the pod and grabbed my Battle Rifle with a silencer and leaned it up against the pod. Taking out my M6C pistol, strapping it to my right leg, I grab my pack strapping that to my back. Grabbing the Battle Rifle, I walked out into the street and took a small look around. Clear. I thought to myself before starting to walk down the street. Along my walk, I made sure my gun was loaded. Having no clue where I am, the city was being overrun by the covenant, no where seemed safe. Still no signal from my helmet, just the familiar sound of static. It was still day time, so I wasn't out for that long. All I have to do is follow the sound of gunfire. That thought went down the drain fast when I realized, that was going on everywhere. I turned a street, quickly looking around to make sure it was clear, then headed down it. I needed to get back to my squad..back to her. I need to know if she and the others are alright. I was then ripped from my thoughts as the sounds of heavy humming sounded behind me. Turning, greeted with a Phantom down the street. I broke off into a sprint as it began to fire its plasma rounds. Running into an alley way, a door came into view on my left. I saw the green light. It was unlocked, I punched the button with the bottom of my left hand and the door slid open. Plasma rounds passed the door, further into the alley way. I closed that door as quickly as possible, locking it as well. I needed to lose them, I wasn't going to take down a phantom with the firepower at hand. No, I needed something with...a little more umph. Looking around where I was, I quickly recognised it as an apartment complex, I could tell from the way the room looked like. It was a lobby. This city was big. I'm like a mouse in a tall maze, I would be able to lose them easy. The sound of deep growls and grunts came from behind the door, along with a few loud slams against the door. "Shit.. " I muttered to myself as my heart began to pump more. Gripping the handle tightly, I began moving away from the door. I knew what was behind that door, and in a closed space like this. I would be dead. I needed to move now, Hunters aren't something I want to fight in a tight space. "BAM!" The sound of the door flying from the frame and hitting the wall flowed into my ears. I raised my gun, my chest pounded as adrenaline was once again pumped into my veins....
