It was raining heavily that night. The sky was pitch black like its never been touched by sunlight. It was kind of sad seeing the sky like that. In contrast, of the sad, dark sky, my mood was off the charts. A lot had happened that day. I just graduated my long ass high school life. And the most exciting part was that, I got to enroll the most prestigious sports university in the country. Without an ounce of my parents' help. Purely because I was talented enough to be one of their students and to get the sponsorship. I actually already knew that I will be getting the sponsorship, but to finally see the black and white stuff with my name on it was rather amazing.
I was currently at my soon-to-be old school, playing basketball for the very last time at the court where I shed my sweat most of the time. I was the captain of the basketball team so the couch gave me a set of keys for the indoor court. But of course that would not happen without hours of convincing.
Tonight was different though. I was not here only for the sentimental value that this place hold. I was waiting for someone special. My girlfriend to be exact. My angel-face girlfriend. I wanted to spend my last day of being a high schooler and also to give her the best gift I could get. I worked my ass out to buy her a ring. Well, it's true that it was a diamond or gold ring. But what matters was the fact that I put tremendous effort into getting it. Of course I can just use my allowance to buy it, but I don't feel that I was appreciation her enough by using my parents' money to buy her something. That's how much I appreciate her in my life. That time my eyes still hold that innocent shade. A pair of eyes that had not tasted the bitterness of life. Unfortunately for me, it's not for long. In mere seconds, my whole life will crumble apart.
I was still wearing my school uniform with my tie slightly lose because tie will always try its best to suffocate me. My blazer was thrown somewhere near the court. Sweat was starting to form on my forehead as I furiously try to imagine myself in a game of basketball game, playing against other players. It was like my body has a mind of its own. My body moved like it was the most natural thing to do. I was grinning the entire time like some kind of lunatic because I was sure I will be spending my time playing this amazing, ageless game of basketball.
While I was trying my best to catch my breath in the middle of the court, my nose caught a faint scent of vanilla and lemon. A rather odd combination of fragrance, but somehow on her, it worked like heaven.
'Violet...',
'My lovely, lovely Violet,'.Before I can turn my head to face her cute face, I heard her soft voice asking me a question.
"Guess who?"
The voice was so soft that it almost hard to hear.
'How adorable.. ', I was pretty sure she already realized that I know she was here. She was sneaky. My adorable little sneaky Violet.
"Hmm... I wonder... Perhaps Dad? What are you doing here Dad? You finished your works quite early today, huh?" I decided to tease her.
In which I heard she groaned in frustration as a reply.
" Seriously... Really? Dad?! You could do better that that Captain Obvious,".
With that cue, I turned around and there I saw my angel in all her glory. I can see a hint of tiredness in her eyes. She was wearing her school uniform too. Well, that was expected since it was our graduation day after all. But for her to come here all the way from her school was something I could not believe.
Instead of celebrating the graduation night with family and close relatives, she decided to spend it with me. But, why do I sense seriousness in her purple eyes? Before I can tease her for looking so serious, she interrupted my train of thought. She took a deep breath and looked me dead straight in the eyes with the same eyes, but now there was no warmth in it."Let's break up,".

.
.
.
.
.
It took me a while to let that words to sink in my brain.
.
'Did I heard it wrong?'
.
."What?", confusion filled my voice as I said that word.
She didn't look pleased at all. It was not a joke. She took another deep breath before clarifying it again.
"Let's break up, Jacob,"
I never heard that tone of voice before. It confused me."I don't like you, no, I don't love you. I never actually love you to begin with. It was just a game that me and my friends set up. And I won the game," she looked so relaxed while saying it.
'What's happening?' My heart was beating in the most uncomfortable way.
"You have been played. For the entire three years. It was exhausting you know? Try to laugh at your ass lame joke and set all innocent in front of you. I thought it's going to be fun, but it turns out you are some lame, boring jock. But, regardless of those circumstances I managed to fool you and believe it or not, I won the game.. So, thanks for that and also I'm going to ditch you... Farewell, my love, ".
I was beyond shocked. My mind can't process anything that came out of her mouth. It felt surreal and real at the same time. My love, my angel... She was leaving me?
'No... No! My Violet is an angel. She's not a monster! 'I will never forget it Love, it was like you had force that night to be carved inside my mind and more importantly my heart... I love you... but I guess it's not enough to hold you from leaving..
YASSSS!!! Finally I have done it!! It took me a while to actually write it and figure what to write first... because in my mind the story is way longer. But it's okay since now I know where to start and continue it... my last chap was a bit shabby... I know. But, heh... Whatever... I just want to get it out of my head...
P.s. it took me a while to get this chapter done because I was writing it as a rough sketch on my notebook an di had to type it on my phone... yes... not laptop but mg phone... because my laptop is currently in repair mode 😂 so, please like and let me know what you think
