This story I suppose is placed in the RebornSwap category. It deals with Swap Sans and Papy. I've been working on this for a few day, so I hope you guys like it.
'No. No. No. This can't be happening! This can't be real! T-this has to be a dream! I'll wake up, and everything will be okay!'
Papyrus told himself as he stared at a pile of dust on top of the once white, but now stained with blood, snow. Resting on the medium sized dust pile, lay a single blue cloth. A light blue that would match the morning sky, or so the monsters assumed anyways.
As orange hoodie wearing monster continued to stand and stare where he was. Fear and worry and sadness crawling its way up his spine and chest. He continued to tell himself that this wasn't real, and everything would be okay. But it wasn't until he closed his eyes for 10 seconds and opened them again, only to see the same site.
"S-sans?" The monster said and slowly walked to the dust pile.
The blue cloth that was on the pile of light gray powder as slightly coated in its contents. The tall skeleton fell to his knees before the pile and tears started to form in his eye sockets.
"Sans...." he said again and slowly picked up the blue scarf. "P-please..." He begged and the tears started to fall. "No. No please. Sans y-you can't leave me.." He cried and clutched the blue cloth tightly, hoping and wishing to hear the voice of his brother from behind him, asking him what was wrong and why he was crying. But he didn't. Nothing happened, other than the wind picked up and the pile of dust started to blow away.
"Sans. Bro, please. Come back!" He cried and held the cloth to his chest. "I'll finally listen, okay! I'll stop the smoking! I'll learn to clean up after myself! The puns will stop! I'll eat healthier! I'll stop being lazy! Just, please..... P-please~..." The skeleton cried. "Sans!" The skeleton cried out into the air.
And that's what the skeleton did, for what seemed like hours. Screamed, cried, begged, for his brother to return. Making empty promises into the air as the tears fell, while holding the single blue scarf that he had made for his brother so many years before.
Once the monster's throat had went horse, he just whimpered and cried on his knees while holding the last thing of his brother that he had left. The older brother continued to silently beg for him to return to him. And as he did so, he thought of the times that he and his brother has spent together.
Such as when the younger skeleton was a child, and he'd have nightmares, he would tend to wake up in tears. But Papyrus would be right beside his baby brother, wiping them away and telling him that everything would be okay and that it would never happen. The younger brother would then hug the elder, and tell him that he loved him before falling back asleep again.
Or when he was in school, he'd constantly get bullied. Either for the way his eyes looked, or him being short for his age. Sans would find himself being constantly picked on, but Papyrus would always be there to shoo them all away and protect his brother. Then Papyrus would pick up his baby brother and take him home, and the two would watch NTT together.
The tall skeleton can still remember the last time he held his brother's hand. The two were walking home together after another day of training with Alphys. The small skeleton was bone tired and needed his brother's help to keep balanced.
The elder brother sniffled and slowly got to his feet. He tightly clutched the blue scarf in his hands, holding it close to his chest. His knees were shaky and his eyes stung from crying. The skeleton wiped his eye sockets from the salty tears that had fallen with his free hand and slowly made his way back home. He just hoped that once he fell asleep and woke back up again, this whole thing would have been a bad dream and never happened in the first place. He slowly trudged through the snow, looking at the ground, holding the small blue cloth close to his soul.
Once the monster had made his way back home, he didn't bother cleaning off the snow from his hoodie or wiping his feet, he just wanted to collapse onto the couch and sleep.
And that's what he did. He dropped himself onto the couch, and slowly curled up onto it. While closing his eye sockets, he put his hands, as well as the blue cloth, into his pockets. He slowly started to drift off to sleep.
Though his dreams were not pleasant like he had hoped. Minute by minute, more and more pictures of Sans went through his head. Angry, scared, happy, and sad. Hell, even times when the young one was in heat. It was all Sans. His brother. He missed him. And seeing his brother over and over and over and over, it just made him sad. He wanted to hold him and hug him. He wanted to tell him that he was sorry for how much of a pain he'd been and that he'd do better. And that he'd never be a screw up again. But he couldn't.
The skeleton, before he knew it, started to cry in his sleep. He was curled up on the couch, holding himself close and whimpering quietly as tears slipped passed his closed eye sockets.
After the long and restless sleep the skeleton had had. He slowly lifted himself off of the couch. He looked around, listening for the sound of breakfast on a cooking pan, and the humming of his brother. But it never came. He wasn't here. Papyrus slowly pulled his hands out of his pockets, and found his left hand still clutching the blue cloth of his brother's scarf tightly.
It took everything Papyrus had to not break down crying again. It was all real, it had all happened. His brother was gone. Turned to dust. The only thing left of him, his scarf.
"Oh, Sans," Papyrus said and held the blue fabric close to his soul. "I'm so sorry..." He whispered and sighed.
The skeleton knew that he couldn't stay on the couch and mourn over his brother, he wouldn't want him to do that. So he slowly got up off the couch to attempt to start the day. He put the blue fabric in his pockets and walked up to his room to take care of laundry since it was laundry day today. Normally Papyrus would lay around on the couch and wait for his brother to come up to him ask for his hoodie, knowing that the bigger skeleton probably had honey and nicotine soaked into the orange fabric.
So Papyrus tossed all the clothes that he could find in his room into the washer. He added the needed soap and fabric softener, and let the washer do its work. He then walked back over to the couch and sat down on it with a sigh and stuck his hands into his pockets. He attempted to grab his brother's scarf, but only felt the cloth of his own hoodie inside the pocket. He shifted his hands around his hands in his pockets and didn't find the item that he was looking for, the only item in his pockets were his last box of cigarettes.
With a confused look, he got up and started to retrace his steps. Perhaps it fell out of his pocket while picking up his clothes. But he didn't find the small blue cloth anywhere. No sign of the item anywhere. Before Papyrus could freak out and tear the house apart looking for, a loud sound was heard outside. Rather close as well.
The skeleton went outside to investigate, lighting a cigarette his way down the stairs. He took a puff from the item in his mouth and opened the door and looked around. He closed the door and walked in the direction of the sound. He took another puff from the cigarette and let it out of his nose, the gray smoke catching the wind.
The sound of a groan filled the empty air, then footsteps took place. Papyrus took a few steps to see who it was, perhaps someone got hurt.
"Thank goodness there's snow here." A voice said and it made Papyrus stop in his tracks. Here was no way. He heard that voice so many times and knew who it belonged to. But there was no possible way it could be.
The mystery figure walked out from behind a tree, dusting himself off. Sans' eye sockets widened and tears formed in his eyes. The cigarette fell from his mouth and onto the snowy ground. He could feel the tears falling from his eyes.
The figure looked up at papyrus and immediately looked confused and concerned as to why this new person he just found was crying.
"Hello! I'm Sans! What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Sans asked from his spot in front of the skeleton.
This was most definitely Sans. The skeleton had the bright blue eyes with the black stars, his blue neckerchief that Papyrus thought went missing was around his neck, and he also wore his battle body, his blue gloves and matching blue boots. The only thing different about the skeleton, was the wings. The big, blueish white wings that were behind the small brother's back. As well as a golden halo above his head.
"S-sans?" Papyrus said hopefully to his brother.
"Yes. That's my name. But how do you know my name? Who are you?" The skeleton asked.
