As she sat on her four posted princess bed in her grand white and cyan themed room, a million thoughts were running through her head. It had been a rough day for her. She kept staring at the royal invitation in her right hand while the other kept twirling a strand of her light brown hair. She had everything one could ever want. Her name was Kang Yi. She was 26 years old and was being pressured by her parents to get married. She had gotten sick of the pressurizing she got . She did not want to get married. She found no interests in princes or any boys for that fact. And now she was invited to attend a ball of some kingdom which she didn't care about. She used to love going to balls,It was one of the few times she would get to meet her friends who lived far away. But after a few years, she was one of the few who did not get married and found it difficult to go on in life. For the last few years, going to a ball would mean searching for " the perfect prince" as her mother put it. So now she tried to avoid balls and parties as much as she could.
She was very annoyed about this one.Her parents forced her to go and now she had no choice. She kept the invitation aside and crossed her arms around one of her big fluffy pillows and rested her head on it. She sighed. She badly wanted to stay but she couldn't. The ball was just a few days away and she wasn't the least exited. She slowly fell asleep as she thought about how to survive through it without having to dance with princes and pretend to like it.
The day of the ball came. Kang Yi's mother had given her very beautiful and elegant dress to wear. Her mother had great tastes. Yi's dress was turquoise blue and was sleeveless. Because it was sleeveless, It showed Kang Yi's fair skinned back. Her hair was let lose letting it's natural curls fall over her shoulders. Her dress was tight from the top but was free and puffy after her waist. The turquoise blue of the dress emphasized her beauty. She was indeed very beautiful.
As she was ready to leave her room to go to her coach, as a habit she walked up to her room balcony held the railing and looked at the endless starry sky. The full moon was out and the stars shone brighter than before. As she watched the moon, a bright and beautiful star shot across the glittering sky. Kang Yi felt very happy suddenly. She didn't know why but she liked it. Quickly she whispered " Please let today be special ". The star was gone. She set out a sigh. She knew that it was stupid to do that. She used to wait all the time when she was small to wish upon a shooting star and her friends used to laugh at her saying that magic isn't real. From that day she let go of such thoughts. She hated the humiliation she had to face that day. But now she felt content. She felt like she had done something good. Without wasting another second, she rushed down the palace stairs with her invitation to the coach that awaited for her.
The ball was grand. The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of violins and harps echoing in the background. Kang Yi met many of her friends who she had not seen for years. She felt that the night was different. She didn't feel the usual hatred and anger she had towards parties and balls. To her right she saw a group of princes talking to each other and watching her. She rolled her eyes and looked the other way. She hated it when they did that. She knew that they are bound to ask her to dance with them. Since she can't refuse, she has to. But she has her own fun by' accidentally' stepping on their feet so that they won't ask her to dance with her again. She loved to see their faces when she did that.Yeah, Kang Yi was pretty devilish in her own way.
She watched the couples who came oneby one into the hall. Many of the princesses dresses were pretty but none of the princes looked good enough to be her ' perfect prince'.
Then she saw a eye catching figure in the other corner of the hall. He was wearing a dark red suit and was facing the other way so Kang Yi couldn't see his face. But he was tall. He turned around to talk to someone. Kang Yi's heart started to beat fast. He had dark black hair that was set back so that his whole face could be seen. He's eyes were dark brown and he was elegant. In short, he was gorgeous. He had a wine glass in his right hand and his other hand in his suit pocket. He had caught her attention. Kang Yikept staring at him. She didn't want to take her eyes off him. Then he turned towards her. Their eyes met. For a second. Yi was lost in his eyes and quickly walked away from there. She walked up to her friends to tell them about him.
