Apple jacks POV

"UGHHHHH when is Rarity going to get here!" Rainbow exclaimed

"probably gonna make a grand entrance or something, although I wouldn't put it past her, knowing Rarity she would sweep in on a grand piano being pushed by some poor kids that she bribed ." I looked down at my watch to find she was 30 minutes late... again!

"For the record,  I don't mind... if that's all right with you guys." Flutter shy chimed,  if you didn't all ready guess who said that.

"No,  flutter shy." Twilight said. she had just recovered from that cold,  why,  she was sicker than a jumping June bug on Jupiter! but at least she's better now,  poor sugar cube. she continued on" Rarity really needs to get her a act together. she knows band practice comes first." Twilight said grumpily.

"Maybe she was eaten by a pack of rainbow wolfves" pinky said.as soon as she finished that sentence the double doors swung open and in came Rarity,  on would you believe it,  a grand piano. I faced palmed as I saw several junior students pushing it inside the practice hall.

"I do apologize for my tardyness dear friends but I happened to stumble upon one of the most darling things! simply stunning it was! it made me forget where I was!" Rarity exclaimed. probably a sapphire encrusted wedding dress or something fancy like. you know how rarity is. but instead I was shocked to see a scrum pled up piece of paper that rarity would usually call uncouth or dirty or whatever.

"Open it up!" she almost screeched as she lay it on the table. Twilight opened it up and read aloud

"May Princable Celestial and Vice-princiables Luna and Cadence present: Canterlot highs tenth anual battle of the bands competition. sign up in the gym Hall by the end of february with your bands name and all of the bands members. competition runs from the start of march till the end of April."

" Oh,  sorry girls I can't make it "Vinal  said "my dad is ughhhh having surgery and Ive got to look after him."

"Thats okay we understand" fluttershy said

"oh look at the time i have to dash" vinal sid quickly and rushed to the door

" wierd" Twilight said , before carrying on.

"The main prize will consist of a first class trip to trotting wood with the rest of your band where you will record a song for the radio and New instruments for every band member. winner will be announced at the summer celebration ball. entry's close... Tomorrow!!!! we won't have enough time to organize everything! we don't even have a band name yet!" Twilight started panicking and pacing around the room.

"Twilight you need to calm down sugar cube." although the two twilights were different both seemed to panic an awful lot.

"Yeah " Rainbow dash replied."we all thought about names for the band while you've been sick. remember the homework?" with that he sat down and nodded but started to bite her lip. so that settled it we all went around every one, each person saying what they thought was the best name.

"oh,  how about pink smoke!" pinkie suggested "or the sweetie cakes!"

"hmm not quite" twilight replied " how about Equestria gems!"

"nah" I replied "Rainbow Harmony?" I suggested

"Ooooooo" I like the rainbow bit!" pinkie shouted!

"Dazzling Rainbows!" Rarity exclaimed

"what bout rainbow rabbits? " flutter shy shyly said.

"too cutesy wutesy!" RD replied " but I have a super awesome name ! an I think its a winner: Rainbow Rocks! I mean it sounds perfect. dontcha think!"

"Yeah!" everyone seemed to sy at once as RD proudly beamed.

"So its settled then,  Rainbow Rocks, I like it!" twilight said. so I guess  that's how we got our name! I guess we got a lot of work cut out if we want to do this thing. Rarity got costumes to make, we've got to pick our songs and work on our choreography. but at least we've got a chance. I can't imagine getting a fancy new bass, my ones as old as the hills. I think we can do this, even without Vinal.
