Now the age of seven, the little girl sits alone at the park watching as all the other children played. No one would come near her nor bother talking to her. At one point in her life it bothered her, but not anymore. She was used to it. Used to them staring with judgement filled eyes when ever she had an 'attack'.
The voices never stopped, but she was able to ignore them for the most part. There were cases when it would get bad and she'd freak out, but it doesn't happen as often now. She was actually able to control the voices a little bit. Able to choose a voice and focus on theirs and only theirs. It was her entertainment, her only entertainment. She would listen as they would talk about something and a smile would grace her face depending on the topic.
The girl was soon knocked out of her thoughts as a ball hit her feet bouncing a few inches in front of her before stopping. She stared at it looking down, if she even bothered to give it back she knew she would get yelled at. She also knew that they wouldn't bother to get it either because they didn't want to be near her.
"Hey! Can you pass me the ball?" A voice said causing the girl to look up her eyes showing the confusion she now felt. She didn't say anything as the boy ran over.
"Hello?" The boy called waving his hand in front of her "can you hear me? How come you're all alone? Why don't you play with us?"
"I...uh" her voice was quiet and timid for she did not know what to say. Why was this boy talking to her? Didn't he know who she was? Is this a joke? A new twisted way for them to mess with her?
She could hear the other children calling to the boy. Telling him to leave it alone, and that he shouldn't talk to her. Their words fell on deaf ears though as he smiled at the girl picking the ball up.
"Won't you come play with us" he asked again causing the girl to shake her head as she finally calmed down.
"You should go" she stated quietly as she stood up. The boy stared a bit confused a smile soon gracing his face once again.
"Alright, but I'll be waiting" he said heading back to the others. She let out a sigh of relief as she sat back down her heart thumping so fast. She was confused and a bit worried. Everyone knows to stay away from her. To let her be, yet he came over like he wasn't worried at all. Like it was normal.
Her lilac eyes soon fluttered towards the boy a goofy smile on his face as he played and laughed with the others. The boy soon turned towards her causing them to make eye contact . He gave a wave as he still smiled, this caused her to quickly turn her head a small frown appearing on her face.
She had a bad feeling as she looked up at the sky. Something inside her told her that this wouldn't be the first or last time he talked to her. He didn't seem like the type of person to give up, and she knew that she had piqued his interest.
She was right, the black hair, green eyed boy continued to try and converse with her. Asking if she wanted to play, eat lunch together, in general asking if she would hang out with him. She would always deny him the opportunity, leaving before he had the chance to speak.
This did not bother the boy, in fact it only continued to make him curious. Curious about the girl who's black hair almost covered her lilac eyes. The girl who sat by herself and kept to herself. The girl who was so quiet, you could miss her.
He tried to gather information about her, but many of the kids told him to leave it be. The only thing he could find out was that the girl was truly alone. She had no family and she had no friends. This bothered the boy and he made it his mission to help the girl open up. To see a smile grace her face as she laughed along with everyone else.
The next day she sat on the bench reading a book. She was so absorbed into the story that she didn't notice the boy sitting next to her. The words which escaped his mouth caused her to jump. The only words she truly heard ringing in her head
"You're scared aren't you?"Like usual she did not respond as she calmly stood up her book resting on the bench. The book was now forgotten as she walked off. Farther and farther away from the boy.
'He's really persistent' she thought as the boy easily caught up to her trying to give her the book.
"...others might think you're weird but I don't" he said causing the girl to stop in her place.Quickly grabbing the book out of his hand she let out a small sigh. "Please...just leave me be" she says quietly as she starts walking holding the book close to her.
The girl jumped as the boy now stood in front of her. A smile on his face as he held out a pair of headphones. His words were being ignored as she continued to stare at the headphones in his hands.
"I don't want them" she says her voice laced with a hint of confusion. No one has ever offered something to her and now that it's happening she doesn't know how to react.
Pushing pass the boy she says one last thing "If I wanted your help I would've asked. If I wanted to play I would've joined. If I wanted to change then I would, but I'm fine with the way my life is." she looks up at the sky almost as if looking for reassurance "I'm fine"
With that she turned around the corner leaving the boy behind the headphones still in his hands.
