Olivia's P.O.V.

I had hoped that this.. creature, because I had no idea what else to call a human monster, was having some kind of mercy on me. I was wrong. As it was 'hugging' me, a sharp pain went down my back, and I let out a tiny squeak, as a blade drove into my spine, before being yanked out.

Stepping back, and releasing me, the figure flicked my blood off of his blade, and I was left with a searing, rising pain in my back. I wanted to scream. Oh, how I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry, and yell, and fight, anything to save me from the fate of death.

I hit the bed sheets, and I could only imagine the blood seeping over the sheets, crimson staining every inch. Tingling sensations went up my legs, like tiny needles crawling up my skin, into my torso, my arms, and neck.

The window clicked shut. Everything was still all over again, and I was left with the deafening pain of silence, and the burning spreading through me. I groaned. "A-Alex... Hel-p..." I croaked, but I knew it was in vein. Spots clouded my vision, and I felt my conscience slipping, before my door was slowly opened, and I heard an all too familiar cry, as my brother and aunt entered.

Waking up in a hospital room isn't pleasant. It's like, for a few seconds of bliss, you think you might just be at peace in heaven. And then you hear the heart monitor. The constant beeping, the needle in your arm, the nurse standing over you... wait, she's saying something. "Olivia, sweetie, stay with me. You're ok, you made it." A smooth voice, probably of mentioned nurse assures me. With a quiet, "Yeah..", I sit up a bit, only to be met with searing, familiar pain. Damn.

My brother and aunt watch nervously as the nurse pushes me down quickly. "No, you need to stay down. There is serious damage in your spinal cord, and the doctor requires you stay down for the rest of the week, and minimal moving for the rest of the month." The nurse explained.

I internally screamed. Don't move? I was the most hyper active person I knew. This was torture. I nodded, and looked up at my brother, who gave me a tired smile. God, he didn't need this. He was already dealing with exams, already getting letters from colleges.

He was the smart one. Always good at everything. Except for handling his anger. He had a minor issue with it, and it wasn't exactly bad but.. he could get pretty pissed. He had better things to be doing then sitting in a hospital room with my ass.

My aunt pulled a chair up, and put a hand on my cheek, her smile providing an anchor for me, as she closed my eyes, and pulled the sheets over me once more. "Sleep, Olivia. Tomorrow you'll have to speak with detectives on what happened Saturday night." I almost flipped. "I've been out three days??" I croaked, my voice still weak. My aunt almost chuckled. "Yes. Now, sleep, my little olive branch."

Memories stung my mind. She and my mom always called me that. My throat tightened, but I forced the tears back, and sighed, letting the ache of sleep drag me down. Tomorrow was going to be hell.

All I could think about as I picked Olivia up off that bed, bleeding, and crying, was that it wasn't possible to lose three family members in a weekend. This was going to be different. I was going to save her. "Aunt Margret, get the car please. We need to be quick, I'm not losing her!" Pushing down all remaining fear and panic, I raced down the stairs, grabbed some water, a spare t-shirt, and got in the car.

I pressed the t-shirt on the wound, trying to stop the bleeding as best I could. It was deep, but I don't think it hit the spinal cord. That paralyzed people, right? Olivia couldn't be paralyzed.. No. I tried it around her waist, and ran a hand through her hair.

Why would anyone want to kill her? She was kind, outgoing, pretty damn smart, confident, and in no ways rude. Someone had to truly be insane to do this. Of course, it may be to finish what they started with our parents..

Of course that didn't make sense either. The stereotype that rich people are rude wasn't at all true with us. My parents weren't all business after all. They cared about me and Olivia. It was a good family relationship, and everyone loved mom and dad. They were so giving.

Pulling up not the hospital, I practically kicked the door open, and ran into the emergency room. The nurse at the front desk gasped, before calling someone. Not too shortly afterwards, a stretcher was brought in. They took her fragile body from me, and placed it down. "We'll take it from here son, you've done well." Someone I assumed was a doctor assured me, and they rushed her body back off into the operation rooms.
