Dream~
Rose and I were enjoying a movie together as she leaned closer to me. Her most recent boyfriend, Newton, had broken up with her. Now as her best friend I had to pick up the pieces and help her, which I did with no doubt. Before we could finish the movie together, my phone continuously buzzed in my pocket. I looked at the number, not recognizing it. I accepted the call and a voice questioned me. "Is this Robyn McCabe?" The voice was formal and confused me slightly. "Yes," I answered slowly. "We're sorry to tell you that your parents have been in a critical car collision. Your father is in the ER. But we're also sorry to tell you that your mother died on impact." My eyes widened shocked by the words yet I didn't realize this call would become a nightmare for me. "Will I be able to see either of them?" I asked as Rose gave me a questioning look. I grabbed my keys and coat as Rose followed. "You may see your mother as we let you decide how we want to deal with her. Your father is still being operating on. He has a very slim to no chance of living. A shard of glass from the windshield has penetrated his neck." A broken sob escaped my mouth as I got in the car, almost not waiting for Rose. "Thank you." I hung up, not wanting to hear another word from them.
I ran through the doors of the hospital as people sitting in the waiting area stared at me. I ignored the stares as I got to the front desk quickly asking where to go to see my parents. She typed something on her computer after she asked me their names. Why couldn't she move any faster!? "Your mother was put in a room so you could see her before we put her downstairs. Her room is on the third floor, room 46. I will tell the doctor to come meet you in her room after he is finished." Rose followed me as I ran down the halls. She stopped by the elevators but I didn't bother. They were so slow and they looked busy anyway. I ran to the door where there was a sign that read 'Stairs'. I bolted up the stairs until I was on the third floor and I finally entered the room where my mother laid, dead. I felt Rose came in behind me, gasping. Neither of us had ever seen my mother with no light in her. My mother was always the brightest in the room, bringing smiles to everyone's faces. I came closer to my Mom as tears rolled down my cheeks. She was so pale with no pink in her cheeks. There was no color in her body at all except the scars on her body that they didn't bother to clean up. I didn't even get to be with my mother before the doctor knocked at the door to enter. He was an older man, maybe in his late 40s. He had brown hair with wisps of silver in it. He asked me to step outside with him alone. I followed him, waiting for the news on my father. I could tell by the doctor's face that it wasn't going to be good. "I'm sorry. As my assistant said on the phone, there was a slim to no chance that he would live. Due to the glass being so deeply lodged in your father's neck, we couldn't save him."
I woke up in my bed feeling the wetness on my cheeks from my tears. Those words never left me and I never ever could forget them. My parents were two of the closest people I had excluding Rose. They were as accepting as they could be when I came out. They treated me the same and showed me the most undying acceptance. I loved them so much, but they were gone. I was alone. I looked around for any sight of Laila, finding myself alone. I wiped my tears as I saw a shadow coming from the open door. Who the hell is that?
