Clomp Clomp Clomp, Haily sighed at the sound of her large feet slowly moving across the plain of Africa. Haily was a small young rhinoceros, she had a craving for cows, and exploring. Her mother had died when she was just 4 years old, she greatly missed her mom, but had learned to move on in life. Her dad had left her 3 years after her moms death. Haily was soon adopted into a group of rhinos around her age who all were disowned orphans, 2 years after being accepted into the gang, a group of hyenas raided the rhinos home. Scared, the crash ran for their life, it just so happens that the gang of orphans were all at a nearby drinking pond. when they saw the hyenas attacking the rest of the rhinos they snuck away, unnoticed. Soon, out of breath the group stopped, one of the members squealed and nudged Haily. When Haily looked behind her she saw a hyena running up behind them, without knowing what to do she ordered everyone to charge. the hyena didn't even know what was happening and in no time it was dead. Ever since the hyena incident everybody in the pack felt safe with one another.
At the time that our story takes place Haily was 14 years, less than half of the estimated time rhinos live. Haily had decided to wander a ways away from the group, on her way she saw a water hole and decided to stop for a drink. As she approached the waters edge she saw her reflection. Looking at her self she thought of all the other rhinos, sadly she prodded the flab of fat on her belly. Haily began to think that the rest of the team didn't actually like her they just included her in the group in case they began to starve. Haily filled with fear, and sorrow made her way to the bottom of the water hole. Taking a short breath she dove into the murky abyss. after about six minutes everything faded to black. Urgently something dragged her out of the muddy pond, Haily, coughing up water slowly opened her eyes to find a rhino staring down at her. Haily sat up to examine her savior. It was a strong rhino, male, and very attractive. the handsome rhino spoke,
"You were going to drown." He said simply
" I know" she replied
" why would you drown yourself?" He asked confused
" I'm fat"
" no you aren't"
" you're so sweet"
" come lets go "
She obediently followed him back to the group, when they arrived the gang rushed around Haily. After they had made sure she was healthy they turned to the new rhino.
" who's this hunk?" One rhino asked with a wink
" he saved me" Haily replied
"Saved you from what?" They said
"drowning"
"Why would you drown?"
"I didn't think you guys liked me because I was too fat"
When she sadly told the group what she had attempted to do they all gathered around her in a big group hug. Haily loves her friends and will never doubt them again. She winked at the male standing a little ways from the group, she likes him, a lot.
