Chapter 3: Shattering News

SAINT POV:

It's the next day & Im in the library w/ Joy just chilling & talking.

Joy: "Are you excited for the pep rally on Friday?"

Saint: "You mean tomorrow?"

Joy: "That's what I said, basically."

Saint: "No you said Friday."

Joy: "Oh hush, it's the same shit."

Saint: "Nuh uhhh!"

Joy: "If you don't stop fuckin w/ me? Damn."

I laugh full heartedly. That's my Nigga.

After we had to leave, the rest of the day was pretty uneventful. When school let out, I walked Joy to her ride & headed to the band room to get ready for practice. We were outside most of the time & we had a pep rally + a game to get ready for so things were a bit intense. Mr. Right & the drum majors were practically yelling the whole time. Ace made me drop, or do 25 push ups when I fucked up or dropped my sticks. His aggressiveness was a turn on I won't lie, but damn!

We marched back to the band room. Maybe he's just tired & bitching but still, I'm blunt enough to ask what's up. So, after we packed up, I went in the band room & saw him at the door. I walked up w/o a thought & just stared.

Ace: "Is there something you need?"

Saint: "Yeah an answer to my question."

Ace: "Okay.?"

Saint: "Why are you so mean to me?"

Ace: "What do you mean?"

Saint: "You yell everything, like I'm right here. You be screaming my name all fucked up to drop.. even though..

Ace: "What?"

Saint: "Nothing!... My name is Saint. Not 'sant' or 'Ss- uhhhhh' Remember please?

I could tell he wanted to laugh

Ace: "Hahaa okay Saint. It's my job to be mean, I'm Tink."

Saint: "Fucks a Tink?"

Ace: "OH! It's my band name.. rude."

Saint: "Now you know how I feel. What's my band name?"

Ace: "I don't know yet. Give it time okay?"

Saint: "Yeah okay.. later."

I head home, do what I gotta do & relax for awhile. Just as tired as yesterday man, practice is kicking my ass. I went to sleep earlier than usual.

                           ACE POV:

Whew! Today was really long! Being a senior is stressful. This heavy ass bookbag is breaking my back. I pull out my phone to FaceTime dean while I make a FEW pineapple slices, I'm allergic but them right here? It's worth it. We talk while I do work & I hang up when I go to shower.

I'm noticing Saint is popping up in my thoughts, nothing major but still, it's odd. She's sweet, & funny. I think we'll be good friends but... I find myself a bit attracted to her. No Ace, you're taken & you remember what happened the last time you dated a girl, never again. Stay in your lane.

I head to bed going to sleep w/ Dean on the phone. Time to finally rest, gotta big day tomorrow.

                          FRIDAY: ACE POV

I wake up to my iPhone alarm @4:00am. I force myself out of bed, get cleaned up, find an outfit, & head to the bus stop to catch my bus to school. When I get to school, I see my best friend & my sister at our usual morning spot in the cafeteria, she's not my real sister but I call her twin.

Maroon: "Hey best friend!"

Ace: "Ugh, you're so loud, it's too early for that!... hey Maroon."

Sahara: "You know Ace always bitches in the morning. He probably got that work put on him last night 😏"

Ace: "UM! Scuse me. We don't need to be putting people's business out like that. Besides, he's been out at night lately fuck knows what he be doing."

Maroon: "I'm sure he won't fuck up again, don't worry about it."

Kameron walks in the cafe shortly after

Ace: "Kameron! Come here."

Kam: "Hey Hoe...s"

Ace: "Shut up! Where've you been?"

Kam: "Sick, but I'm fine now. I'll see you in class I have to go."

Kameron is like my best friend & daughter in one. She's practically the closest thing to me here. It's a bit odd because we have had some sexual tension before but we cleared it up. I don't know what it is about these studs but damn they are fine! It's confusing me.

I chat & eat my breakfast w/ Maroon & Sahara until the bell rings & then we head to class. My heart beats slightly faster when I think about going to 3rd today. CRAP & today's the pep rally, I need to stretch. I skip 1st & 2nd in the band room & use my un stretched legs as an excuse.

                            SAINTS POV:

It's 2nd period & Im feeling kinda turned on. I texted Joy to meet me at our usual spot. I got a bathroom pass & went on my way. I saw her standing w/ her hands on the rail & when she heard me she turned around looking concerned.

Joy: "Hey.. what's up you seemed kinda weird when you asked me to come out. Is everyth-

I cut her off w/ a kiss. When I pulled away she looked unsatisfied... almost hungry? She pushed me on the wall & began exploring my mouth w/ her tongue. God the things this girl does to me. Suddenly we jumped away from each other because I heard the sound of keys down the walkway.

Saint: "Mm, love you babe bye!" & then I ran off to class, surely leaving her panties soaked cause mine sure the hell were.

When I saw her later on at 2nd lunch we just smiled at each other & sat down & ate. After lunch was over I went to the band room instead of class to get ready for the pep rally. Everyone was in such a hurry so I skipped the greetings, got ready & grabbed my bass, strap, & sticks. This stud Kameron came up to me & started conversation. I remember her from middle school. She's cool people so we spoke the whole way to the gym.

Once we got set in the bleachers, the kids piled in & the band got ready to play stand tunes. Ace & the other drum major Jimmy conducted the band. After we cut off, Mr. Right gave percussion the okay to play a cadence. Jordon calls off duck mouth & we start playing. It's pretty lit I won't lie. I look over at the dance girls popping & what not & then I see something that throws me off. Ace is dancing w/ them. Not only that but he's dancing better than them. Wait.. what? I almost messed up that threw me off so bad. When the cadence ends, Ace is catching his breath & then flips is ponytail. THEN it hits me, hard.

Saint: "Hey Kam?"

Kam: "What's up?"

Saint: "Is Ace gay?"

Kam: "Oh yeah. He's gay as fuck"

She turns back around & my jaw is practically hanging w/ disappointment.

"Fuuuuck"
