Dear Diary,
Hello! It's so nice to meet you. My name is Alice Fay! I'm from Columbus, OH. I like it here. The view from my apartment is nice.I live on my own, except for my friends that sometimes come and visit. Their names are Odessa and Dakota. They're my best friends. My Momma says they're not real, and so does Josh, but I don't believe them. They think everything I say is a lie. They can be really mean.
Momma is in the hospital. She's sick, Josh says. I don't know if that's true. Momma said that she could never get sick. Momma never lies.
Momma says I'm dangerous. She doesn't want me around people. People are scared of girls like me, she said. Momma never lies.
I have tantrums. They get really bad. One time, my nails cut so deep, we had to go to the hospital. I can't help it. I start scratching and I just want to fall apart. Maybe it's because my papa- [the words smeared and cut off by a droplet of blood]I met a cute boy today. His name was Tyler. He was very sweet. He has freckles, too, and pretty blue eyes. He's deaf, but plays ukulele. He said my ukulele is cute. Momma yelled at me for going outside today. She said people will be scared of me.
Tyler kissed my scratches.
Momma said people wouldn't understand.
Tyler called me perfect.
I don't understand why people are so confusing, Diary. I guess I'll learn that soon.
Tyler is the first person I've met outside of my health and my family. He is special to me.
Josh is coming tomorrow. I'll probably tell him that I snuck out. He'll understand, hopefully. He and my Momma are smart.
I have to clean up the house, Diary. I hope I'll talk to you tomorrow. Please sleep well, and don't let your nightmares keep you up.
Love,
Faithful Alice Fay.
