A man wakes up, he's old but young, and sees that he's alone
He gets on his feet, begins to run, and hears the ticking tone.
He runs and runs, and never looks back, and finds many things
But after some time, he sees a light and the ticks stops then pings.
But when he stops, he realizes his fears, and reaches for something new
He feels different, and much more younger, for the clock has struck two.
He has new found strength, and much more health, and a better looking face
But he still remembers, "I must keep running", so he can't forget his place.
He keeps his friends, fights old foes, and decides to have a cup of tea
yet again he waists his time, and see the clock tick on, and move to number three.
He changes again, and is much more calm, but continues to move along
He leaves his friends, and ventures alone, but feels like something is wrong.
He looks around, and feels worried, and wants to do something more
But all he gets is the ticks, the chimes, and the clock show a four.
He now want's fun, something exciting to do, and places to explore
So he bolts off, thinking and ventures forward, so he can learn more.
After some time, he falls weaker and weaker, and begins to slowly die
But then clock, his saving grace, begins to strike the number five.
He continues on his way, much more kind, and much more peaceful
But even he knows, that one day, he will not be so graceful.
He helps and protects, does what he does, and tries to mend and fix
But when he's done, he already has gone by, and now is on six.
The man is now much more interesting, calm, and curious
But even the most collected of men can still become furious.
He tries and tries, to keep everything fine, but knows he will be in heaven
He waits for the time to go, and sees the clock, his form is now of seven.
Now he's fun and games, and wants to make friends
But still he knows to move forward, and knows that this will depend
But still his time is short, and he is being lost by his fate
So he continues, changes his body, and becomes the number eight.
He's very stern, and well mannered, and knows what must be done
But even if he's won the battle, the war his still not won.
He looses faith, and will to live, and decides there must be more
So he sheds this form, it's something new, a surviver of a war.
This man is a secret, one that is terrible, to all the other lives
He is hidden in memories, thoughts, and all the other strides.
But he still must leave, and be forgotten, and to the others that's fine
So he leaves behind his old looks, and battles, and the clock struck nine.
Nine was kind, and helpful, but could always be mean
He was always happy, and excited, and as active as a teen.
Soon he fought an old foe, that would kill him, as they tried again and again
But he escaped, and killed all the men, as the clock had stuck ten.
Ten was a hero, a man of fighting, but never truly wanted to harm
He just had to do what was right, no matter what, even if that meant being disarmed
But when the hour was almost done, he knew what would happen, what's uneven
"I can't die" he screams and shouts, but sees the time continue, for he is now eleven.
He now is fast, and more curious than ever, even in his adventures
But no matter what, he always survives, no mater the endeavors.
Although he can be enraged, He knows he will join the versions of himself
But he finally ages, and changes once more, and sees the clock is now twelve.
Now he's back to his old form, old but young, and different nun the less
He sees that his adventures, his running and fun, are far from the mess.
He runs and runs, and never looks, fear that he will change
But even then, time will see , and affects him more strange.
But for the time, we leave this man, and continue on our way
So you there, get up and moving, or you might have to pay.
But one last thing, for you to hear, you might just know the author
For he is strange, and alien to you, but his name is The Doctor.
