Dear Auntie,

My life was pretty dull. It was always school, sleep, repeat. That was one reason I wanted to go to this field trip. It wasn't exciting but the drive back to school, to this very day, haunts me.

My friends dared me to do it. Nela, Clare, and Gina* were sitting with me on a bench in the back of the bus. It was bloody boring, the bus bouncing us up and down, making me sick. Gina was nervously tapping her fingers. Clare was ranting about her crush. Nela was leaning on my shoulder, drifting in and out of listening to Clara.

"Ughhhh, I can't take this no more." Gina proclaimed. She pulled out a mirror and move it so the late afternoon sun bounced of it. She then concentrated the light so it shined right into Clare's eyes.

"And he was like 'You are sooo stupid.' And she was li- AHHHHHHH." Clare screeched. Gina, Nela and I howled with laughter as Clare attempted to swat the light beam on her face.

"That was fun! Maybe we can aim the mirror at Caden's and Jonathan's face!", exclaimed Nela.

"Ok but I don't want to do it.", said Clare

"Is it because Caden has a crush on you?" ,I teased Clare.

"NO!",shouted Clare.

"So Clare's a scaredy cat." concluded Nela. "I made the idea so you guys have to do it."

Gina quickly pretended she was sleeping.

"Ugh fine. I will do it." I sighed.

Gina quickly"woke up" and gave me the mirror.

"They are right there, in the front row." Gina pointed out.

"Ok I see." I said.

I picked up the mirror and maneuvered it to reflect the sun. Then I moved it slowly to aim it at Caden and Jonathan.

The light bounced off the back of the boys seats, but the car went over a bump. The light staggered up....and to the horror of us, it land on the steering wheel. Now to you it is no big deal. But our driver, Mr. Bren, gets distracted by everything.

It happened within seconds. I will slow down and describe every detail I can remember.

The bus seemed like it was having a panic attack. It bounced up and down, shaking my bones. Mr. Bren stared at the light in a trance. His hands let go of the steering wheel. The bus began swerving in and out of the lanes. We suddenly slide off the road into a ditch just as a truck whizzed by, going the wrong way. No one was hurt, but everyone was shaken and everyone had seen the mirror's light.

In silence we sat on the way back to school.

Everyone praise the light . It had saved us all. If the light was not there, Mr. Bren would not have swerved. We would have been hit by that truck.

But Auntie, no one knew who the mirror belonged too. That is a secret I want to keep.

Love,
Alexandra
