Snape hadn't slept much that night, he was in dreadful pain. He didn't call out for Poppy as he was fed up of her meddling. It was all so hard for him, the fussing and shuffling the medi witch did constantly.

The things that he hated the most were the bed baths and using bed pans. He shuddered in humiliation at the very thought. 'I wish Nagini had killed me, this is a worse torture then death.' He sighed desperately. A single tear falling from his usually cold and emotionless black eyes. He was always too proud for his own good.

Madame Pomfrey helped him with his breakfast, much to his irritation. 'It wasn't so bad when Hermione helped me with the cake...' he admitted to himself. "Now Severus, you must eat up because you need your strength and some of the potions do not work well on an empty stomach. As you have informed me many times over the years." Poppy sighed, as he turned his head away from the spoon of porridge.

"Don't make me bring out the aeroplane Severus! because I will..." the medi witch warned, earning herself a glare and reluctant submission from Snape.
"You even think about doing the choo choo train or the fucking aeroplane with me and I will shove that fucking spoo.."

"Severus Tobias Snape! language!" Poppy yelled in disgust, shoving another spoonful into his seething mouth. He decided to just shut up and let her feed him, yes, it was humiliating but compared to the other things he had to endure daily it was nothing after all.

Poppy was about to disappear to check on other patients when Snape requested she prop a book up on some pillows, so he could turn the pages with his more useful hand. "Good idea Severus, got to keep the mind working!" She beamed, returning with some spare pillows and opening the book at the first chapter for him to read. She scuffled off quickly before he could speak again.
"Sense & Sensibility? Oh for fucks sake." He groaned, before giving in and beginning to read.

The day seemed to pass faster than usual, he had become rather ingrossed in the muggle book. He found it quite the page turner. He heard a familiar voice in the distance talking to Madame Pomfrey... 'Hermione.' He smiled to himself quickly.

"How are you finding the books I left for you? Have you read them yet?" Hermione asked cheerily, bursting into sight like a flower opening its petals in the morning.

She fetched a jug and began pouring Snape a glass of water.
"Yes, I'm halfway through 'sense & Sensibility.' What is wrong with that girl? Colonal Brandon loves her, respects her and what does she do? She chooses that arrogant buffoon." Snape grunted in annoyance.

"Ah, yes. A bad choice in my opinion." Hermione replied, "Of course it's a bad choice! He might not be as perfect looking as the other but he would look after her, typical woman.. the good guy always finishes last. As I know only too well." He sighed, taking the glass of water from Hermione.

"I wouldn't say that Colonal Brandon was not as perfect as the other, my mother used to have the film adaptation on VHS and we would watch it together..  the actor who played Colonal Brandon.. Alan Rickman was perfection, so incredibly handsome." Hermione sighed, as she remembered her crush on the man.

"VH? What?" Snape asked looking rather perplexed. "Oh, they're cassettes with film on them, it's a muggle thing.." Hermione explained. "Sounds facinating.. I think I'd like to watch a VH.. whatever it is." Snape smirked. "Maybe I will show you one day, but for now you will have to make do with books I'm afraid."

"Miss Granger.... can i ask you something please?" He asked with desperation. Hermione nodded and looked at him wide eyed. "Why do you care to visit me?"

Hermione looked away for a moment and paused, as if in deep thought. Snape's gaze was fixed on her as if waiting for her reply with eagerness and impatience. "Well, i enjoy visiting you Professor. You have done so much for all of us and i think you deserve a friend." She replied honestly, carefully holding back some crucial information that she was not willing to disclose as yet.

"It's because you feel... sorry for me?" He asked sadly, "No! you misunderstand me, it's because i admire you." She smiled sweetly, a gentle blush grazing her soft cheeks. Luckily for her, the crimson flush escaped his notice.
"I appreciate it, truly. However if anyone asks I will deny i said that." He scowled playfully.
