Dawn came to greet me, like always. Most of the people must love to sleep like a baby, like, went to their dreamland once they rested their heads on the pillow. Snoring without they knew it, rolling without they knew it, and getting dreams- the wet one- without they knew it. "I couldn't sleep." I grumbled as I sat on my bed, with messy hair and baggy eyes. Barely to sleep. Why?
Let me tell you a flashback.
A day before.
"Sir, are you okay?"
I rolled my eyes, noticing one of my students asked me about my condition. Right, now I'm in another class, not in the earlier class in the morning. He must be curious seeing my cutted lip, I guess the swollen one makes him realized that. Another voice began to ask the same question, making me felt uneasy. Maybe they we're worried about me? I placed down the marker on my table, giving them a reassuring replied, "I didn't see my room door when I was walking, and then this kind of thing happened.. "Joke. No, I think my voice was pretty much nervous, at the same time. Secondly, don't you think that when we hit the door with our face.. The lip won't get involved but the nose and forehead would? Was this what you called,
TOTAL BLUFFING BUT NOT WORKING AT THE SAME TIME?
Looked like some of the students gave their eye contact towards the asking one, and then we became silent. Completely silent. I broke the silent quickly, "Shall we continue our lesson?" The students nodded in agreement. They knew what happened to me, yet they asked me in concern. Thank you, I felt like a superstar suddenly, kidding.
This kind of thing happened must be a reason. I believe in it, and that was why I helped that boy. Wait a second I didn't figure his name yet.
The class period ended at 4 o'clock in the evening. I took the class attendance from the class representive before I walk out to my room. Basically my office room wasn't too far from the second class, so I didn't spend too much walking to my room. I glanced at my watch, "Yoko must be waiting for me." I fastened my walk, trying to catch up the remaining time. Then, I went to the parking lot, starting my car engine. The engine roared and I drove to Yoko's school.
It took half an hour to reached there actually, but the traffic was kind of hectic between this time. I arrived there 45 minutes, hoping that Yoko wasn't alone at her school. Thankful, she was there with her friend. And her friend beside her was.. Miyamoto? Great, I could send him home too.
"Daddy!" My sweet daughter waved at me, her other hand holding her crutch to support herself. I stopped my car near to them, sliding my cars' window opened. "Sweetheart! Were you waiting for me?" She giggled excitedly, simply said, "Yes I do! But I'm not alone, Miyamoto companied me." I sensed Miyamoto's face covered with blushes. Youth life, how wonderful.
But that didn't take times for them to widened their eyes. They noticed it. Most panicked one would be Yoko. "Your lip, it was swollen! What happened??" She brushed my cutted lip with simple cares, being considerate. Her eyebrows dropped, feeling worried. I held myself from groaning, enduring as I could. Miyamoto showed his concern too, but he managed to comfort Yoko from being worried. "Uncle, was it because of a door?"
I gasped. A door? Did he shared the same bluffing like me? Oh yes he tried to not making Yoko more worried, and he did a great job in helping me. I nodded, signalling the truth behind Miyamoto's question. "Oh my, daddy you should look forward before you barge the door! Look now, your face looked like a delinquent!" A slight injured was considered as a thug. Funny.
I kissed her hand, trying to assured her that I would be fine. Her expression changed, stating that she understand what I'm trying to say. "Forget about me, what about you both? Don't want to go home? I will drive you home, Miyamoto." Yoko and Miyamoto glanced at me, giving an 'of course we wanted too' face. They both went inside my car, and I drove back to our resident. We had a simple conversation along the way to our home, stopping at a shop to buy some instant food before we safely arrived home. I dropped Miyamoto first because his house was in the first line. Ours were the second line.
I parked my car at the garage. I opened my cars door first, stepping out to open the door at Yoko's side. She lifted her leg slowly as I support her hand, while she took her crutch with her left hand. After making sure she was all okay, I grabbed my bag and my jacket out from my car, holding Yoko's hand gently. As soon as we entered our house, she called me from behind.
"Are you hiding something from me?" My heart thumped fastly. I changed the topic, "I bought instant curry for our dinner-" "Did you fight with someone?" She cutted my words. Obviously, she caught me lying.
Caught in a lie. She saw through me. I couldn't lie. But I have to. Or else she will cry. I turned myself around, trying to explain, "Look, dear, it wasn't important. I just hit my office door by accident, it's just a small cut." She frowned. This was bad. "Am I not too reliable for you to bluff? You think that hitting the door will give you a light wound, on top of all, at lip? Not on your nose or forehead?"
I felt my head got hit from a baseball bat. Silly me. "I can explain-" She walked towards her room, with her crutch, as she replied sarcastically, "Don't talk to me." She shut herself in her room. Speechless. I huffed as I throwed myself on the sofa, feeling guilty. I'm a worse dad in the world. Trying to not making her daughter worried but worsened the situation.
The present.
I wished times could returned to the earliest. "Arrghhh.. Why.." I rolled on my bed like a childish man. Yoko must hate me. She would ignored me if I talk to her, I couldn't bear myself. I'm not prepared.
Rinnggggggggggg!
I snatched my hand phone beside me, and tapped the button. ".. Yes?" I answered with soft tone. "Mr. Akio, please don't make that cute sound. I barely hold my lust inside me." I scoffed. "I couldn't sleep. And what with that lust thing, hahahaha." Kurota's call makes my day. He called to check on me, seriously early in the morning? He should find herself a girlfriend, he was so kind, yet always make me laughed.
"Let's make this a good day to start with, okay?" I smiled, hearing his cheer up voice. I should do my best today!
