It's been a week since Scott woke up. His parents brought him to our apartment and are staying there with him. I've casually been sleeping on Kirstie's couch.

I wake up to the smell of bacon and waffles. I rub the sleep out of my eyes and then make my way to the kitchen.

"Good morning" Kirstie says in her bubbly way. She hands me a cup of coffee.

"Good morning" I say grabbing the cup of coffee and taking a sip.

"I made bacon and waffles, want some?"

"Yes, please." She hands me a plate and some silverware, and I sit at the counter and start eating. She sets her own plate down and joins me.

"So," She says in-between bites, "What are your plans for today?"

"Well." I frown slightly. "I think I'm gonna go home." I look down at my breakfast.

"Are you sure you're ready?"  Kirstie says looking up at me.

"No," I look at her. "But I'm sure that you're ready for me to get off your couch." She laughs slightly. "And I talked to Connie last night. She said he's doing really good. He isn't having trouble remembering things, and he still doesn't remember what happened that night. But apparently he's been asking about Alex a lot.."

"So what does for you and him? Like, does he remember that you guys were together? or about the -" She hesitates. "rings?"

I take a deep breath "I don't know. From the sounds of it, I don't think he remembers." I take a bite of my waffle. It's now slightly cold. "I just don't know. I'm gonna probably hang back for a little while anyways. His parents are still staying in the guest room, but when they leave I will probably turn it back into my room." I sigh.

She nods and then takes the last bite of her waffle. we are silent for a second. "if you don't mind me asking" she's quiet. "where the rings now..."

I reach for the somewhat familiar but new silver chain around my neck. I pull out the rings and they rattle against each other. I stare at them for a minute. Just to think, Scott and I may never get back to what we were. I look back up at Kirstie. She opens her mouth to say something but nothing comes out. I drop the chain.
"I know it's stupid, but I haven't taken them off since Connie handed me Scotts at the hospital."

"It's not stupid. If I were you I wouldn't take it off either."

   "Yeah." I sigh.

Kirstie gets up and clears her dishes. "Just remember," She turns around and leans against the counter top. "I will always be there for you if you need me. If you just need someone to talk to, or like if you need a place to go, I'm here for you."

"Thank you, Kirstie." I give her a small smile and I get up and I hug her.

We pull away. She giggles "You done?" She asks and then points to my now very cold breakfast. I nod, and she takes my plates away.

I walk into the living room and clean up my sleeping area. I fold the sheets and blankets, and gather all my own personal belongings. I pull out today's' clothes from my duffel bag.
