A small Eevee leapt to the underbrush, breathing heavily. She couldn't be found, not when it was just her left. She tried to slow her breathing, but failed. The rays of sun poking through the leaves hurt her eyes, so she pulled her blue hood lower, waiting.
"I...hope he...doesn't find me..."
A strangely colored Fennekin sniffed the ground. He grinned when he picked up the Eevee's scent and raced off, a blue blur in the forest. Oddly, the ground his paws touched did not sizzle or burn in any way like the paths traversed by normal Fennekin. Of course, the blue fox-like Pokemon was different in more ways than one.
Trailing behind him was a silver Eevee, doused with water. When he had been found, it was in a rather unconventional way, for the Fennekin had blasted water at his hiding spot, something that would kill any Fire Type that attempted to perform the same action. However, he wasn't a Fire-Type. He was water.
He drew closer to the spot she was hiding, and, with an exhale, he released a stream of water at the bush he suspected the Eevee was.
The Eevee was pushed out of the bush, shivering from the cold.
"Okay, you win, Cobalt! You found me!"
Cobalt smiled and began to cheer, "Woohoo! I won again!" Then he looked over at the Eevee. "Jade, wanna play best 7 out of 13?"
Jade looked over, thinking, before hearing something.
"Jade! We're here!"
"Sorry guys, mommy and daddy are here!"
Both Cobalt and the silver Eevee pouted. "Aw, you have to go?"
"Yeah, mommy just called for me. We can play tomorrow," she said, smiling and hugging the two.
Cobalt sighed and hugged Jade, saying, "Oh, alright... Wanna play just you and me, Siliver?"
The silver Eevee shook his head. "S-Sorry, c-can't. I g-gotta get back to my house b-before I f-freeze," he said, shivering.
"Mommy can warm you up," Jade said with a smile.
"Are you s-sure?" Siliver asked, his teeth still chattering.
"Yeah! She's always super nice and warm!"
"I think she's over here. Jade," her mother asked, the Shiny Arcanine coming into view.
The Shiny Eevee smiled, and Cobalt did as well.
"Mommy, Siliver needs to be warmed up. Can you help?"
Citrine nodded, moving some heat to her paws and petting Siliver.
Siliver's shivering faded. "Thanks," he said gratefully.
"Of course. Anything for Jade's friends."
"I really should get home now," the Shiny Eevee said.
"Okay," Jade said, ceasing the hugging and jumping onto Citrine's back. "Bye guys, see ya at school tomorrow," she smiled and waved, as Citrine carried her off.
"Bye, Jade..." Cobalt pouted sadly, then turned to Siliver. "Walk as close to home as possible with each other?" he asked. The silver Eevee nodded, and they were off.
Something on a tree caught Cobalt's eye. A poster, that read, "Community Dance".
'Come one, come all, to the 3rd Annual Community Dance! Great food, and better times with family and friends! Maybe ask that special someone to dance with you. December 18th, 7:00. Don't be late!'
"Woah!" Cobalt awed. "Ooh, I should ask Jade!"
"No way! I'm gonna ask her, and she'll say yes!" Siliver replied smugly.
"Yeah, right. No one can say no to a Hide and Seek champion!" the Fennekin boasted.
The silver Eevee smirked. "No."
Cobalt growled and jumped onto Siliver. He was about to scratch when he heard his sister calling. With a glare at the Eevee, he ran off into the forest.
"No way is he going to ask Jade..." the shiny Eevee growled.
(The Next Day)
Jade jumped off of Citrine, smiling. "Bye mommy!"
"Bye dear. Have a good day at school."
Jade nodded, giggling as her mother kissed her forehead. The Eevee then ran inside the school, looking for Cobalt and Siliver.
Cobalt and Siliver were fuming, glaring at each other, until Cobalt saw Jade. He ran towards her and smiled. "Hi Jade!"
Jade tackled Cobalt, not seeing his staring contest with Siliver. "Hi Cobalt," she smiled, hugging him.
He laughed and hugged Jade. "Hi!" he said again.
Siliver rolled his eyes.
Jade rolled off Cobalt and sprung to Siliver, hugging him. "Hi, Siliver!"
Siliver shot a smug glance towards Cobalt, who bared his teeth in return. The silver Eevee wrapped his paws around Jade to return her hug.
Jade grinned. "Wow, you're a really good hugger!"
"Why, thank you!" the Shiny Pokemon grinned.
"You're welcome," Jade said, ceasing the hug and smiling at her two friends.
"So, what are we gonna play now? Maybe we could play Tag! Can we play Tag? Let's play Tag! Tag, you're it," Jade laughed, tapping both Siliver and Cobalt simultaneously.
Siliver seemed surprised, but Cobalt immediately jumped into action. "Better run if you don't want to be soaking wet!" he declared, instantly hitting the Shiny Eevee with a Water Gun.
Jade frowned. "Cobalt, that wasn't very nice," Jade pouted, trotting to Siliver and beginning to lick his fur clean.
Siliver grinned smugly.
"We were playing tag!" he protested.
"Guess you can't be a champion of both hide-and-seek and tag," the Shiny Eevee jeered.
"You two are being mean. Cobalt, Tag wasn't started yet, and Sili, that's mean. Why are you being so mean," Jade asked, attempting to listen to Siliver's thoughts. Her attempt was interrupted by the ringing of the school bell.
"But you tagged us!" the Fennekin complained, ignoring the bell.
Siliver growled. "Whatever..." he muttered.
"Yay, it's time for Art Class," Jade cheered.
Cobalt smiled. "Awesome!"
The Shiny Eevee snorted. :All Cobalt's gonna do is blast water at the canvas again...:
Jade pranced off to class, knowing her friend wouldn't be far behind.
Cobalt followed Jade. Siliver rolled his eyes and turned to go to his first class, Music. He slipped and fell on a watery pawprint that the Fennekin had left behind. With a growl, he stood up, and made his way to his class
