It was a long day of traveling. Honestly I couldn't have been happier to get out of this place, there was nothing, and i mean nothing I was leaving behind.
I sat for the whole two hour plane ride comtemplating how to react when I met my mother. My first instinct was to freak out on her, then I had this wild idea to change my whole persona and become a super sweet Taryn. Who was I kidding, I doubt I could last being all superficial and sweet for more than a day. My personality, I would say, was the opposite. I knew that was why I didn't make friends, but I didn't want friends either. I never had a true friend, I didn't even know what I was like, I didn't think I ever would either.
In the end, I came to the realization that I would probably end up coming off as cold and standoffish to my new family as I ever was.

(Whitney's POV)
I did not get one ounce of sleep the night before picking Taryn up at the airport. The thought of her hating my guts mortified me, I could sense she would hate me too.
"Whitney, babe, you need to eat something," Ryan pleaded looking concerned.
"You don't understand!" I mumbled, swirling my spoon around repetitively in my yogurt.
I heard him sigh as he placed his hand on my shoulders, massaging the tense muscles in my neck. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. "You can do it honey, she's your daughter, you're not her daughter. Remember that, know who's in charge and don't worry about her disliking you."
I knew this was all true but still the thought of meeting this bold, young girl frightened me. "Thanks," I stood facing him, I could see the concern in his eyes, "I love you."
"I love you too," he grinned and i could see the hope fully in his eyes, taking my hand in his own he squeezed them in reassurance, pecked me on the cheek and went to grab his coat.
"Matilda, bye honey have a great day!" he called out opening the door.
"BYE DADDY!" Matilda said in her "perfect daughter" voice, then she added in a not so charming tone,"and what are you not going to forget today?"
I could see her leaning over the staircase, her bleach blonde curls hanging over the edge. "Matilda, I'll try my best."
"BUT DADDY!" I could see the over-practiced pout wash over her face.
"Okay, okay fine. I'll try to pick those shoes up for you."
"Or how about, of course lovely daughter, I would never forget my child! Picking up her shoes is my top priority today."
I looked down in disgust, sometimes I just didn't understand. If Taryn was like her...no. It's wasn't possible, no one could be as selfish and spoiled as Matilda Bellasario.
I looked over in time to see Ryan grimace at her harsh comment, "Bye, Matilda."
We could both hear her stomping to her room above us. Ryan sighed, winked at me and closed the door heading to work. Leaving me with too much time on my hands before I picked up Taryn. I finally decided to draw my mind away from everything and get back to a good book.

"Attention all passengers! We have finally reached our destination in just two hours and five minutes. Please keep your seatbelts fastened until the seatbelt sign is off. Thank you for-" I tuned out the sound of the flight attendant overhead on the loudspeaker.
Here we were. Pasadena, California. I gazed out the airplane window taking the view in, ehh, it was decent. It didn't really compare to the beautiful Colorado Mountains I'd grown to love. I knew it would take time to get used to this place, and to my new family.
It took quite some time to get off of the plane. Just getting my suitcase out from the overhead compartment took quite sometime, finally a man, eager to get off this plane, pulled my bag down with ease. Helping me out quite a bit, I didn't thank him, maybe I should have. His eagerness annoyed me too much. I'm just that person that doesn't tolerate much, if you're annoying you might as well stay away from me. I have zero tolerance for most people, that's why I didnt fit in a school, I didn't care either.
Finally I stepped into the sunlight, soaking in the warm California sun. I slowly walked down the steps of the plane and headed into the airport where she'd be waiting.

(Whitney's POV)
I couldn't stand still, I wrung my hands and swayed back and forth anticipating Taryn's arrival.
Finally I spotted her, I was speechless.
As she walked toward me I took in her appearance, she was absolutely beautiful. Her elegant, tall figure and her long, sleek black hair was bold as were her perfectly arched eyebrows. Her features, sharp and prominent resembled mine. I couldn't believe my eyes, here was my very own daughter standing right in front of me. I could feel my eyes well up, I didn't even know what to say. I stared at her in disbelief for the longest time, and she held my gaze staring right back at me. Finally she broke the silence,"You have a lot of explaining to do."
As she said that all I could think about were her piercing blue eyes and her hard, cold expression as she said those words, that reminded me of her father and the incident that about ruined my life.
