Beyond The Horizon

Prologue

     Sitting at home. Bored. Saturday's, this is how all my Saturdays start. I work the nightshift at my job. Working in the FBI takes a lot out of a man. Expecially not seeing her. The most beautiful woman I have ever set eyes on. Sarah.
     I'm Mike. Mike Edwards. I'm your usual run-of-the-mill town guy, when I'm not working. I live on the outskirts of Ohio, a small town. It's been years since the United States had a proper government. Everything changed after Kyaask attacked. Kyaask is a planet in the Lucid Galaxy. Huge creatures probably ten feet tall. Giant hooked claws, I'm betting they could rip a man in half. But that was ten years ago.
Incurable diseases spread through the streets. No one goes outside without major protection. If you do you'll probably die.
     "Mike come here. Come look at the television."
     "What is it Sarah? I'm in the middle of a recording."
     "The government has captured a Kyaasktic. They said that they will use it to cure the diseases!"
     Last year, Jonathan. Our son died. He was only 3 years old. The diseases infected him. Sarah has been so depressed ever since. Walking into the other room, I turned towards the Television.
     "This Kyaasktic could solve all our problems. Now that we can use it to our advantage, no one should be in fear again."
     After the news reporter finished speaking and it flipped to commercials, I looked at Sarah. Her eyes, so bright. Her smile stretched over her face, beautiful and wide.
