Collins started to get a lot better, then he got worse than before. He couldn't move, talk, and breathing was difficult for him. The doctors had no idea what was wrong with him. Then, after a few more weeks they looked closely at his red blood cells. He had sickle cell anemia. That's when your red blood cells are in the shape of the tool called a sickle. This sometimes means that cells get caught and can't flow oxygen to parts of the body. This makes it hard to move. The thing is, this disease is not contagious. He has had it for his entire life. His dad has it and never mentioned it to anyone. They were able to help him recover when they knew what was wrong with him. Only thing is, Devan could have this too.
