I just left the diner. I took an extra shift to earn a little more. The landlord had raised the rent. To some it was a small rise in price, but not to me. I might have to take on a fourth job. I couldn't afford a car,so use my own two legs. I admit, it is a long walk to reach my lonely home. It was worth the trouble when I rested my head on my pillow. The next morning, I received a surprise call on my landline. The call came form the housekeeping agency I worked for. I hated that I had to take that job. They assigned a house for you to clean for a while. I was assigned to an awful house hold. They said someone was looking for a young woman to clean their home. I agreed, of course I had to be interviewed by the house owner first. The agency informed me of the address, date, and time. I had the interview by the end of this week. Although, it was only Tuesday I couldn't wait. I glanced at the time, got dressed, and ran out the door. At the diner it was busier than usual. I was on my feet twice as long, and I didn't receive any breaks. I worked through my week finding myself wore out more than ever. By Friday, I walked home in the rain. I didn't have a rain coat. I only had a torn up umbrella. Once, I got home I quickly changed and hailed a taxi. I had to make my interview. The location was in my sight line, and it turns out this isn't a house, but a mansion . I hoped I wasn't late. I rang the doorbell and a butler answered. "You must be here for the interview, right this way",he said.
