"thank you Mr Perkins"

"your welcome, now you can get unpacked and relax before dinner is served at 8 o'clock.

"ok thank you"

"your welcome"

As Flora was unpacking her bag the wind blew wildly outside, making the windows rattle. When Flora opened the wardrobe an army of moths flew out. There were more dead moths than alive moths on the inside of the closet.

"what a dump!" Flora cried in disgust.

At 7:45 Flora made her way downstairs, through the gloomy hallway leading to the kitchen and opened the door. There was an old lady cutting up some vegetables for dinner, she looked over at Flora and smiled.

"hello dear, new are you, well you won't be alone for long, Dean is arriving tomorrow."

"Dean?" Replied Flora.

"Yes dear, the professor's grandson, he missed out on school last term due to being sick so he is coming for tutoring just like you"

"that's nice to hear" replied flora casually, "it would be nice for some company."

At the dinner table the mood was very subdued. The cook was humming merrily to herself, the professor was staring absent mindedly at the cobwebby chandelier and Flora was chewing ono some meat. After half an hour of tension and boredom the professor stood up and said goodnight before retiring for the evening. As Flora stumbled up the creaky stairs to her room she could have sworn there was a knock at the front door, but not being her house or her job she dismissed it.

"maybe it was the post man, or a friend of Mr Perkins" she thought out loud.
