You were crying. After many years, you finally decided it was time to let it all out. When Ms. Patricia struck you, it brought back all the memories you'd been trying to repress. Memories of abuse, memories of fear. You didn't try to stifle the sobs, you let them echo around your empty room. Some of your sniffles must have traveled outside your door, because someone heard you.
Dennis came into the room, but not with his usual precise process of set down the chair, wipe off the chair, sit in the chair, watch you eat. He came in very abruptly, quickly unlocking and pushing the door open. He looked into your moist and bloodshot eyes and saw that he wasn't just hearing things, you had indeed been crying.

   "Did Ms. Patricia hit you?"

"Dennis.. I thought you weren't allowed to come in here anymore."

"Please just tell me if she hurt you."

He seemed genuinely worried, but why and how was he in here? Ms. Patricia seems to have a great deal of control over him, it seems unlikely that he would disobey her.

   "Yeah, she did."

Dennis began to quickly walk over to you, but remembered how uneasy you are around him and slowed his pace. He sat next to you which caused you to instinctually stiffen up.
His chilling blue eyes stared intently at you, you could almost get lost in them. They were very captivating, and you didn't even hear him continue to talk to you.

   "Your lip."

"Huh?"

   "Your lip, it's bleeding."

You reached up and felt dried blood on the corner of your mouth. You hadn't even realized you'd been bleeding.
Dennis suddenly got up and walked into the bathroom, he took the orange cloth out of his pocket and held it under the faucet, trickling some water onto a corner of the handkerchief. He returned to your side.

   "Here, let me."

   "Wha-"

He held your chin so it was facing him and dabbed the corner of your mouth with the damp cloth, removing the dried blood.
You looked at each other for another couple of seconds, even though it seemed like forever.

"I..I should go. Ms. Patricia doesn't know I'm here, and if she finds out she won't be happy."

   "Oh.. right of course."

"What is it?"

"Nothing, you should go before she finds out you're here."

"Okay, do you need anything else? Are you alright?"

   "No, I'm fine."

Dennis got up and began to head for the door.

   "Dennis?"

"Yeah?"

   "Thank you."

Dennis gave you a smile, nothing big, but it was something. He then left and gently closed the door.
Your heart felt warm, it was a strange feeling that you hadn't felt in a long time. Not since middle school when you had a crush on Joey Fischer in your English class. It had been so long since someone had really cared for you, taken care of you.
No! Shut up, (Y/N)! He's your captor, not someone you should be developing any type of feelings for. You should be thinking of a plan, a plan to trick him, right? This was the original idea, but now, for some reason, you don't think you could bring yourself to trick him.

Hey! I hope y'all enjoyed this chapter, I was afraid it might be a bit too cheesy. Anyway, I have some news: while on spring break, I will have little to no access to Internet and, consequently, will be unable to update as frequently. I will, however, continue to write more chapters and update whenever possible. Don't worry, this won't be for a long time, and with all that I write while away, I MAY be able to update quicker than usual when I get back. Have a good one and thanks for sticking with me so far, love ya! 😘😘
