The beach has never been my most favorite place in the world. I find the glare of the sun irritating and too hot for my skin, and it's just too crowded. In the first week that I got here in Santorini, I only tolerated the crowds thinking that they would eventually dwindle down once Monday hit but NO, it never did. Once I've had enough with guys ogling my bikini clad body. I mean what the hell? There are other women out here wearing much less than I was, please turn your heads over there and fuck them with your eyes also I'm guessing they'd be much more willing than me. I knew I looked good, I'm not oblivious about my looks but I was still conscious. I guess it's just different knowing that they are undressing me with their eyes, no one wants to experience that right? Right?
"Excuse me, do you speak English?"
I lowered my sunglasses to look at the stranger. A female, with long blonde hair that almost looked white in the sun and blue eyes that strongly contrasts with her tan. She had an athletic build and was about in her 20's maybe 24 year old like me.
I gave her a smile. "Yeah, don't let the exotic looks fool you."
She looked relieved and slumped down in defeat next to me in the sand. "Oh my god. You have no idea how many people I had to talk to before I found you." I just noticed that she had a backpack that looked heavy and the tiredness around her eyes.
"Tough day?"
"Something like that." She released a deep sigh. "Okay so here's what I originally intended to ask you - I'm Eirene by the way-"
"Ana" I said but she didn't give any reaction if she heard me.
"-I've been lost for around 5 hours now and my phone is dead so I cant call my brother and I've resorted to asking around but they don't know what I'm talking about. So if you could just point me to where my hotel is I'd greatly appreciate it. "
Easy enough. I thought she'd ask me money to pay for her airfare.
"Let's see." She placed a map and a piece of paper in my outstretched hand. "Why don't you help yourself with the juice."
She grabbed the bottle without hesitation. "Thank you so much. I'll pay you back everything."
When I read the name of the hotel, my eyebrows went up Stavros is off in an island. It's a five star hotel and one night in that hotel probably costs more than my internal organs when sold.
"Eirene right?"
She nodded while still sipping the juice.
"Well your hotel is off in an island. You have to take the private ferry of Stavros to get there."
"What?" She rubbed her forehead lost in thought. "I guess I did forget that little tidbit." She sighed again and rubbed her hands across her face twice.
I have little pocket money that I can give her but my disposable phone could probably of use to her. I bought that phone for future emergency uses. I guess in this stranger's category, this counted as a emergency.
"Hey" I called her, tapping her shoulder. "I have a phone that you can use."
She clamped her teeth to her lower lip. I could tell that she wanted to call anyone that could help her but she didn't want to use up my minutes that I would use myself.
"Are you sure?" I think she wasn't aware as she gave me puppy eyes. "I mean, surely you call someone back home?" I looked around and saw other people mesmerized by her. She excluded a presence of beauty, charms, and badassery. Wearing boots in the beach? That's badass. "Yeah, I do call them but I mostly use the hotel's connection. It's for emergencies but it's an emergency being lost right?" I gave her shoulder a pat for her to know that it really was okay. "Who will you call? Do you know the number?" I asked her while searching in my bag for the phone.
"If there's one number that I have in my brain it's my brother's." she sighed and looked out to the beach. "Why does he have to be right. He'll say I told you so and I hate that." she was murmuring to herself. Being lost must have taken a toll on her.
"Here." I handed her the phone. "Call whoever you have to call."
She grasped my hand with the phone with both her hands and looked into my eyes. "Thank you so much. I'll pay you back don't worry."
She turned away and started to dial. The person on the other side of the phone immediately answered. I didn't listen to much because it was rude but what I do know is her brother's name is Eros and that he's picking her up.
When Eirene handed me the phone she looked positively relieved, like the weight on her shoulders were gone.
"Stupid brother and his stupid bossing around and his stupid super hero complex."
She said that softly and with affection. Weird way of showing gratitude. Then she laid down on the sand as if it wasn't two in the afternoon and the sand was hot. She just went on and on about her disaster of a flight or as she likes to call it a series of unfortunate events. She apparently was in Singapore and booked a flight there. Got delayed in Qatar and finally landed in Athens, lost her other luggage and rode a ferry to Santorini or as she likes to call sardine can boat because it was so crowded. Basically everything that could go wrong, certainly did get wrong in the span of 32 hours, which would make any human being nearly histerical with stress, fear, weariness, jetlag, and all those other emotions you associate with when you've experienced a series of unfortunate events. Eirene was articulate and most of all she is talkative. She never stopped talking in the duration of us waiting for her brother Eros to arrive. She never even stopped to see if I listened.
Almost an hour later - see the torture I had to endure? - A shadow fell upon the both of us. When I looked up, I could only see a silhouette of a man since he was directly blocking the sunlight while I was figuring out who the man was. Eirene jumped up and hugged the stranger like a koala bear. So this is Eros, her brother. I stood up to introduce myself only to be rendered speechless by this man.
Is he even a man? I think he's a god with the aristocratic nose hypnotic green eyes that seemed to turn blue as he stared at me. He obviously loves to work out under the sun with the tan he's sporting and he was built like a football player. Wow, this man is God's gift to women.
"How much do you want as compensation for my sister bothering you? Or are you planning to pay me in other ways since you orchestrated this whole ordeal with my sister?"
Except when he opened his very kissable mouth. Huh, figures. Good looking bastard knows he looked good and was used to getting what he wants and being used at the same time. He was even inspecting me from head to toe and fluttering his fingers on his sister's arm to check if I harmed her in any way at the same time.
I knew it was too good to be true.
"Well, if you must know monsieur I do not require any type of payment for helping out your sister." I said to him while raising one eyebrow. "If you need other services as you said earlier I'm afraid I can't direct you to where you can get that here in Greece."
I turned my back to him and gathered my things. Really pissed and offended at this stranger.
That's what you get in doing good deeds Gracie.

So that's the first chapter. I'm sorry for the way this is written. English is not my first language. Over the course of this story I'll try my best to edit them, but not too much as to change the plot.Au revoir, Elena
