I don't understand. One minute everyone is happy ,running around, goofing off. The next minute people are running for their lives, screaming, getting eaton. How do people live like this?

"Emma! Emma! It's time to get up! We have to go to the store in 10 minutes.", My mom yelled from downstairs.
"Ugh!" I grunted as I woke up.
I threw on so clothes, grabbed my tennis shoes and ran down stairs.
"I'll be in the car!" I yelled walking out the door and hopping into the car. I knew my mom would take awhile so I looked around me. My neighbors had already locked up there house and nailed their windows shut. I saw one house that even had spikes at the door.
My mom thought it was all just a joke. I mean zombies? Really? Everyone knows that zombies aren't real. They're just make believe.
I sort of believe her but what if she's wrong and there are zombies? We haven't done anything that will protect us in the future. Everyone else has but not us.
Bang!
That jolted me out of my thought process. I looked beside me and my mom was getting in the car. She looked tired like she hasn't slept in days. She starts the car and drives to the store.
"Do you think that the government is still making this up?" I asked. She turned and looked at me with a tired expression.
"I'm not sure honey, I'm not sure."
When we arrived at the store it was crowded people were running everywhere with carts full of stuff and people pushing there way by It was a nightmare.
"Come on honey, and stay close i don't want to loose you." My mom said while getting out of the car. I grabbed her arm and kept moving.
We were trying to get passed the people at the door when I saw a girl about 12 crying screaming for her mom. It stopped to see if her mom came but she didn't. Everyone around her just looked at her with pity but no one tried to help they just stood there staring at her. While i was looking at her everything seemed to slow down. Everyone stopped moving so fast and their voices were muffled.
Then I heard a scream. It wasn't one of those laughing screams or shocked screams, it sounded painful. A scream so loud and high pitched that it hurts your throat.
Then all hell broke loose.
Everyone was screaming and yelling to get out of the store. People were pushing past me and stepping on my feet but i just stood there stocked. I couldn't move I knew i had to but i couldn't. I looked around for my mom but she was nowhere in sight.
All of a sudden something grabs me with such force I fall on my butt. I look up and i see it. The thing that everyone was running from. The thing that my mom believed was fake and made up. But she was wrong.
