It’s been a pretty difficult journey, writing and waiting for response. When I didn’t get response, I felt frustrated. I thought that my writing was going all useless.
It was a usual day when I was looking for something to read and found out “How to get reads, votes and comments”. Its written by @KatherineArlene . I immediately added it in my reading list because I knew this was the guide I needed.
Believe me, it’s the most awesome book one can read. If you need advice please read it. It provided me a lot of guidelines. All the questions that confused me and the help that I needed, that book provided me everything.
It had the answers to my questions, the key to my success… that’s what I’ll like to call it.
I realized that reads are not important. I didn’t need my numbers to glow red. The only thing I needed was true and sincere readers. I desired for readers who could read my works without me saying, appreciate them if they liked and point out my mistakes if they didn’t enjoy them.
It really haunted me that people read my works but they didn’t leave any feedback.
This is what I thought, “Didn’t they find it interesting? Why don’t they leave their views? How can I know whether I’m writing well or not?”
I realized that my attitude was the same when I read people’s works. I left my views rarely. After reading the book by Katherine, I started interacting with people. Whenever I read a book I left my views every time. I made it my habit to tell people how they write.
I understood that people needed appreciation because they deserved it. If I found a fault in somebody’s works I tried to tell them what they needed to do.
I made it necessary to thank people who followed me, liked my works or left any comments. I knew this played an important role to find new friends. Katherine’s book played a really important part to make me understand the importance of this fact. If you’re ignorant about what people tell you about your books or you don’t thank them for following them then you’re doing wrong. Please realize the point that it’s your duty to be nice to such people who’re reading, commenting and following your books.
Remember not to like your books yourself because it may leave a bad impact on your readers. They may find you proud or greedy. I was very upset about my votes never increasing but I had strictly told my brother NOT to vote on my works until he really liked it. Remember that you have to be fair with yourself. You’re working for self satisfaction.
Author’s note: I hope you guys can take some spare time out to read the book I’ve mentioned. It’s extremely helpful. Did you guys like the points I’ve mentioned? I hope that I’m not being offensive.
