We're both lying there in a bed of grass and fallen flowers, surrounded by trees that had just grown the last of their bright green leaves. He breathes in deep, closing his eyes and embracing the fresh spring air. I look over at him, an unnoticed smile creeping upon my face. I move over to my side and place my hand on his chest. He cracks a smile and slowly opens his eyes.
"I don't think anything could make me happier right now," I speak as I softly touch the fabric of his light sweater. His chest rumbles as he emits a small chuckle.
"I might be able to change that," he suggests as he lifts his head up slightly to look down at me. He softly grabs my face into both of his hands and pulls me up so our faces are just close enough to each other's. A lovingly warm kiss is placed on my forehead, causing a smile to show on my face.
He then gets up and walks over to a nearby tree. His long fingers caress along the rugged bark, a sympathetic grin forms on his lips. He takes in a deep breath and places his other hand on the trunk of the tree. The tips of his fingers trace along the lines of the old bark. He takes in every texture and revels in it."If you really think about it, trees are amazingly strong." He speaks with such empathy, as always.
"How so?" I ask, standing up and walking over beside him, us both up against the tree.
"Trees live for so long. They take all this time to grow, and even when they're old and dying, they still manage to stay up as long as they can." His voice is soothing and he speaks so passionately about something as simple and commonly thought of as a tree.
"You're like a tree," I add, and he gives me a questioning smile. "Despite all the damage you go through, you still manage to stand confidently and empathize with nature. You give shade and breath, and emit protection. You're like a tree."
He smiles and leans his head against the tree as I do the same.
"Then we all deserve to be trees."
A/N: I'm sorry this ones so short but I had to finish it so I could move on with my other ideas :-)
