The next morning I wake up early with nightmares of my father. I saw him in

the hospital bed. He opened his eyes. They were pitch black, and lacked spirit. He

looked at me and said "Help me. Help me. Darcie please help me. Darcie please." I

couldn't stop crying and yelling "Dad please come back to me. I love you" My bed

was soaked in sweat and I think I peed a little. I tried to call my mum to bring me

a glass of water but before I could open my mouth my mum was already in the

doorway with a glass of ice water in her hand. "How did yo-"

"How did I know that you wanted a glass of ice water before you even opened

your mouth?"

"How did yo-"

"How did I know you were going to say that? Last night you said you didn't believe

me when I told you I had powers. Do you believe me now?" She looked at me with

sincere eyes. I nodded slowly, and she told me that whenever I was ready that she

would help me harness my powers. I slept through pretty much the whole day, and

late that night I ate breakfast lunch and dinner. I told my mother that tomorrow, I would let her teach me how to unlock my powers. I go back to sleep and wake

early the next morning, to the sound of my alarm. I didn't even remember turning

on my alarm. I cut it off and check the time: 5 o'clock am. The sun has yet to

rise. I get out of bed and go to the lou. Then, I hear a tapping noise on my

window. I put my phone down and proceed to see what it is that was at my window.

There was nothing there. I carefully open the window, to see a pebble fly right

past my head. I look down to see my mum with a pebble hovering beside her

finger.

"Mum how is that pebble-"

"Floating?" She finishes my sentence.

"Mum you've got to stop finishing my sentences"

"Sorry love. But to answer your question I can manipulate inanimate objects...

Remember", she says with a sly smile. "Get dressed and showered if that's what

you're going to do. We've got a lot of training to do."

"Alright alright, I'll be down in 10." I quickly shower and put on a pair of leggings and

a long shirt. I run downstairs to see a large rock being thrown at me. I put my

hands out in front of me to protect myself, and only inches away from my hands

the rock stops, hovering in front of my hands.

I scream and put my hands down, letting the rock fall to the ground. "What in the

world is going on? Why was that rock hovering in front of my hands? Did you do

that?", I say frantically.

"You are learning to harness your powers, and as I said I am helping you." She

says calmly.

"By throwing rocks at me head. What kind of bloody help is that?!"

"First of all your grandmother did much much worse things to me so don't even

think about calling it abuse."

"You grew up in Silverton mum I grew and still am growing up in the United

Kingdom."

"Don't you dare strike a tone with me. Just because you were born somewhere

else doesn't mean that you get the privilege of easy training," she yells. She had

never truly yelled at me before, and it hurt bad. I felt tears of anger run down

my face as I said "Fine then let's train". The door flings open without me touching

it,  and slams shut after my mom. Once outside I realize that it was me who was responsible for that.
