Liam pulls out a wrinkled map. It has drawings of where we walked. He also takes out a compass that looks a little rusty. "Alright to avoid getting lost we should keep heading north towards Granther town. So If we need to run back here for some unknown reason it will be easy to get back, because we will just run back south." Liam explains. " Alright then let's go." My father says. We walk through the small neighborhood , then entering the shady forest. The leaves under our feet crunching with each step. The warm sunlight peering through the thick brush of the trees. I start pondering about how this even happened. How did this horrible apocalypse even occur? What started it? Why did the world choose this? How do we stop it? How do we cure the virus that causes people to turn? No... what has happened to them... can never be resurrected. Millions of people they're souls are corrupted and possessed by demons that feed on the living the ones that still think rationally, and breathe normally. Are there other survivors out there? We can't be the only ones out here. Im ripped out of my mind when I hear the beastly snarls of the dead. They trudge toward us .
The'rye mouths hanging open revealing all of their infectious teeth. They look like they want a fresh tasty meal of flesh and blood. I quickly snatch out my dagger. I clutch the weapon stabbing one in the head its blood spilling out. It falls to ground. I look at Jake his tail is tucked between his legs. He's growling and glaring at me. I step near him, he backs up, his sharp teeth showing. I shuffle closer he turns and starts running away.
" JAKE!" I holler for Jake I  try to chase him down but strong arms wrap around me holding me back. I struggle trying to get out Its grip.  " It's just a dog. " A voice I recognize as my father tells me. " He's not JUST a DOG. HE'S MY FRIEND!!." I bite down as hard as I can on his arm feeling his skin break open and the metallic taste of his blood. He howls in pain and his grip loosens. I take that chance and battle out of his grip. Once free I sprint where I saw Jake run off to I. My feet quickly pounding against the solid ground. The trees blur past me as I run.
"JAAAAAKKKEE!!!" I holler for him hoping he'd come back. My legs burn and ache from overuse. I want to fall to the ground and never get up, But I remember why I'm running. My number one rule is to never leave anyone behind no matter the cause. My heart feels like it's going to burst from all the forced movement. I need to stop but if i do I could lose Jake.. I can't lose him. I swore I would protect him and always be by his side. I know he's just a dog but... he's my friend, my companion, my family. I plunge down to dirt from exhaustion. I pant like a dog and wheeze from the overwork. Sweat drips down my face. I painfully push myself off the ground. I
Limp to the nearest tree and collapse against it. My limbs are shaking and shivering. I can hardly breathe. I chest pulses angrily. I coil into a ball and shudder. Then it hits me i'm all alone. There's nobody around to talk to. Nobody to hold on to. No one to help me. I sit there and start to panic and my vision starts to fade.  I let out a shriek as warm tears trickle down my cheeks. I wrap my arms around my body. I plead for this nightmare to end... but it never does... My sight darkens and I go limp and still.
