It's summer bank holiday in Glasgow. No classes. No work. Dwight spent the night with his computer. He went online and read his e-mails which he hadn't checked for a fairly long time. A certain message caught his attention:
"Howdy! Caitlin of Queensland, Australia here. I got your e-mail address from the comment you posted on my blog. I always try to message the people who find time to read my articles. And you're one! Thank you!"
He tried to remember her blog and his comment. A month ago, Dwight, who's fond of watching movies, surfed the net for the synopsis of "The Meeting," a famous American movie. He found a movie review about it written by a blogger named Caitlin. Amazed by it, he posted a comment.
That message of gratitude sparked their correspondence via e-mail. A special friendship between the two soon bloomed. There were no days or nights that they didn't chat or talk. They even exchanged pictures and videos with each other. Though they're from different worlds, they possessed similar qualities and shared same interests. It's like they were alive in the past and knew each other for so long. Dwight didn't expect that he would be very much attracted to this twenty-three-year-old Aussie lady, Caitlin, despite the fact that she's so faraway. And Caitlin never thought that she would like Dwight, a twenty-seven-year-old UK lad, so much.
On their fifth month of knowing each other, an unexpected thing happened - a threat to their special friendship. Dwight told Caitlin that he would move to America. His uncle in Wisconsin would sponsor him to continue and finish his baccalaureate degree in film and media arts. He had to stay there for two years or more. Caitlin was deeply saddened by Dwight's revelation. She knew Dwight would be very busy then and would no longer have time to chat or talk with her.
Dwight soon arrived in the US. Caitlin was right with her presentiment. Their communication began to wilt till they lost it. Their schedules could hardly meet. "Well, if he is really a part of my dream, he will come back one day," Caitlin often told herself to mend her broken heart.
Three years passed and Caitlin became a well-known novelist in Australia. She hid her identity under her pseudonym "Kate Spree." The fame of her best-selling novels reached other countries. She was then asked by Supernova Productions, a new American film industry, to write a movie script for their first project. Kate Spree, overwhelmed and honored, wrote a story about a lady and a guy who met online and whose friendship blossomed into love. The script was soon made into a movie entitled "Crazy Love." Crazy Love became a real hit. It was regarded as the best romantic movie of the year.
Several months passed. The half-American half-British director of Crazy Love was invited for tv guesting by a certain American talk show. His name was Dwight Ford. The host put Ford in the hot seat with unnerving questions.
"Have you ever experienced CRAZY LOVE?"
Dwight revealed that he was crazily in love before with a foreign lady he met online. But unlike Crazy Love, their story had a sad ending - they lost their communication and were not able to meet in person.
Towards the end of the show, the host called another guest to join Dwight Ford on stage.
"Let us call on our special guest tonight who traveled a thousand miles just to be with us, the never-seen script writer of Crazy Love, a profound novelist, Miss Kate Spree!"
Dwight almost slipped out of his seat when the writer appeared around the corner. Kate Spree turned to be the online girl he fell in love with- Caitlin Springs. He rushed and embraced her tightly. A great cheer went up from the audience. Tears welled up in Caitlin's eyes and she whispered to him,
"I didn't expect to meet you but I am very glad that I did."
