-1:Meeting the Neighbor-
There was a lot of noise going on. I closed my book, taking my headphones out of my ears and went up to the window. I push the curtains aside and opened the window. I stuck my head out to see what the commotion was. There was moving trucks in front of the house next door. As far as I know, that house has been empty for years. How strange I wondered. The town barely has any new people. The only people who come in and out are the people who go on vacation. I was curious to see who these people were. I closed the window and headed downstairs to find my mom sitting in the kitchen reading the newspapers.
"Mom," I started to say,"What's going on outside?"
"We got new neighbors" she replied.
"Oh," I simply said.
"Now why don't you be a good person and give this to them," she told me, holding out a basket of goods with a big red ribbon with gold stripes on the handle.
"Do I have to?" I whined.
"Yes. Now go welcome them,"She commanded.
"Fine," I groaned taking the basket. I headed out the door. I jogged over to the house. I walked my way over the mover's truck. There were boxes piled up on the front yard. Someone tapped me on the shoulders. I turned around to see a boy. He was quite tall. He had brown hair, hazel eyes.
"May I help you with something?" he asked me politely.
"Oh, my mom wanted to give you this," I handed him the basket. "So welcome to the neighborhood"
"Oh, thanks," He said taking the basket as we went to sit on the curb of the sidewalk.
"So, where are you from?" I asked him.
"London," he replied. Oh, no wonder why he had an accent.
"How'd you end up here?" I asked curiously
"I don't know actually. My mom probably wanted to live somewhere outside of London. So I guess she chose here," he shrugged.
"Oh," I said looking at my phone to check the time. "Well, I better get going. I guess I'll see you later. Bye" I turned around and started to head home.
"Wait" I stopped walking and turned around. "I never got your name," he said.
"Alyssa Clark, you?"
"Ryan Taylor"
