Regret I Ever Lost You

(Sequel to Happiness For You)

Sitting in his study Cameron heard Lily calling him. ‘What does she want this time?’ he thought to himself. It’s been six months since Mia broke up him, so he could be happy. And what a ride it’s been for him.

Mia, his girlfriend, of three years - who he thought was the love of his life - broke up with him so he could be happy. What Cameron thought to be happiness turned to frustration and there were plenty of times, when he thought if it was the right choice.

When Mia left, Cam talked to Lily and he was surprised to find that she already knew that Mia had left and had packed all her stuff, ready to move in with him. At the time, Cameron didn’t think anything of it but the last two months has him thinking, if Lily had set it up so he’d fall out of love with Mia and because of her kind nature, knew that Mia would break up with Cameron herself.

“Cam… Cam… Cameron!” shouted Lily. Bringing him out from his thoughts.

“Huh? What?” he replied.

“…I’ve been calling your name for ages, God!” Lily snapped.

Cam sighed. “Yeah, what is it?” he asked, suddenly feeling exhausted.

“Oh, I was just wondering if you’ve seen my ruby red lip-gloss?” she asked, masking her anger with innocence.

‘Is she serious?’ Cam asked himself, flabbergasted that Lily called him, just to ask if he’s seen her ‘ruby red lip=gloss’.

“No, Lily I haven’t seen it.” he answered her, sighing once again.

“Oh, ok doesn’t matter now.” Lily said, cheerfully. Cameron sighed, again at her behaviour.

He’s been sighing a lot lately, especially since he got with Lily. He ran his hands over his face and told Lily he was going out for a walk. And yet again, Lily had to ask the list of questions.

‘Where you going?

Who are you going with?

What time are you coming back?

And don’t be too long.’

Everything Lily asked would go through one ear and out the other. Cameron couldn’t be bothered to listen to her voice, which never seemed to bother him until recently.

Cameron got his phone, keys, wallet, grabbed his jacket and left the house. After a little debate, he decided to drive to another town instead of taking that walk he told Lily. He needed to go somewhere, where no one knew him.

A little while later, Cameron arrived at the town of Little Wood. He drove to a nearby café, thinking through his thoughts. He ordered a sandwich, muffin and a latte, to satisfy his hunger and thirst. Glancing around the café, he noticed how homely it felt. Something he hasn’t felt for a long time.
