Park Jimin wasn't used to the outside world.

He was a sheltered kid growing up, never left his house, was not allowed to leave the house; a rule forced by his wealthy parents. Living in a more isolated area, in a decent sized house, only being able to communicate with numerous tutors and maids, and locked doors weren't exactly something his parents wanted their only child to grow up in. Though it wasn't their choice to make; being one of the more wealthier families had its pros but it also had its cons. Bitterly enough, having a child was one of them, especially for the businesses they were in. His father, Jiwon worked for the NIS (National Intelligence Services) as a spy; though don't glorify it like the movies do, there is no secret rooms leading to a high-tech base, nothing like that. Jiwon's work was simple, anywhere from following people around to getting classified information from a person. It wasn't necessarily dangerous but in his history of work, he's managed to ruin a few people's lives. His mother, Taeyeon's, work isn't as impressive as his father's I suppose, she did do government work, she was a translator for ambassadors from foreign countries.

Now I understand that there doesn't seem to be a threat towards their family, especially towards Jimin, however, he isn't exactly legal per se. To all of the rest of Korea aside from a few people sworn to secrecy, Park Jimin didn't exist. He wasn't allowed to exist. Jiwon, due to his job, wasn't allowed to be married nor have kids. In short, I guess you could say Jimin was a surprise. It didn't stop them from trying to raise Jimin though.

Now with Jimin being 19, it was getting harder and harder to keep their son away from the outside world. He wanted to go to university and study genres of literature, he wanted to be a writer. It wasn't simple for Jimin to go to university, he needed an identity, but he didn't even have a birth certificate. As much as he wanted him to be able to do that it just wasn't possible at the moment. That was until he found out his English tutor, Mr. Kyo, was the chairman at Yonsei University.
