HIM

His beauty was like a whisper. If you weren't paying attention, you'd miss it. I'd never seen it before that day. Not until his eyes were the only thing I could see. Until his strong hands were the only thing saving me from the harshness of the ground. Until my lungs were filled with the smell of his musky cologne.
His presence was like a shadow. You turn around and it's gone. That day, he chose to stay. That day, I thought it would be me that was gone. But in what seemed like the blink of an eye, a beat of my heart, a quick gasp or a short scream, he'd saved me.
He was observant. He noticed things. Things no one else had noticed before. He knew that they'd be here.  That I'd be here. He knew what was going to happen, what they wanted to happen.
"Thank you," I whisper, still captivated, "it would have been easier, though, to leave me. It would have been over, life would be normal again".
Tears slide down my cheeks as I realize what I've said, did I really believe that? But what I didn't believe was what happened next.
"Not for me," he said, "life would never be normal again. Not without you. You're my normal."
