I woke up to my apartment door being pounded on. I looked over to my phone on the bedside table. The phone read "5:47am" I groaned. Another 3 pounds.
"Aubrey! Get your ass up!"
"Okay! Hold on...."
I quickly slid on some sweat pants and threw a sweatshirt on. I walked over to the door and unlocked it. I went over to the kitchen as the door opened and closed. My boyfriend Malika walked in and sat on the couch.
"You said you'd be ready whenever I came over." He groaned and set his feet on the coffee table. I put the coffee on to brew as I went back to my room, changing my clothes to something more fitting for the occasion.
Hunting.
I put on some camo leggings, a black tank top, camouflage jacket, and a orange headband. I came back and he was staring at me as I walked back into the kitchen.
"Its hunting. Not project runway." He scolded before getting up.
"I know...." I said as I poured some coffee into my thermos.
Malika picked up his bow case, as I slid on my boots and went to my hunting room. I found my bow case and picked it up.
"I'll meet you in the parking lot. Ok?"
"Whatever." He said as he left.
I groaned and grabbed my phone and some hair ties. I put them in my pocket and left. I got in the elevator and went down to the parking lot. I saw him by my Chevrolet Midnight Silverado. I unlocked the car and opened the truck bed. I put our bow cases in the back. Malika got in the passenger seat and took out his phone. I got in the driver seat and put the keys in the ignition. I put the thermos in the cup holder and began to drive to our normal spot.
"6:56 am " Malika read out as I pulled the keys out of the ignition. I groaned at his reminder.
"Got it." I took a sip of the coffee before I got out of the car. We always had hunted in the woods behind a neighborhood. Except this one house was father back. We parked on its gravel road and went into the woods from there. He got his bow out before mine and set it on top. Taking his bow and arrows out, he closed his case and set it back on he ground. I however, put mine back in the truck.
We began to walk to a tree stand, which we didn't really use. I sat behind the bushes and leaned against the tree. Him doing the same, but on the opposite side. Time soon began to fly.
Nothing.
Nothing.
By 9;53 am, nothing had came by. I was hopeful at something would come along but once again nothing. So time continued on, and on, and on.
"12:30..." Malika said as he scooted closer to me, his stuff on his side and mine on my stuff. I looked over at him.
"What are you doing?" He shushed my question and creeped closer to me.
" It's not like anyone, or anything is out here." Malika said as he was now inches away from my face.
Now, it has been a solid, 9/10 months since we've gotten together. And we both wanted to break up. But hadn't. My patiences was the only thing keeping it together.
I had gotten up as soon as he went to kiss me.
"Malika.." I warned.
"Oh, playing hard to get I see..." He smirked and pinned me to the tree.
"Malika! Stop It!" I struggled against his hands, which pinned my wrist above my head.
He inched closer to my neck slowly zipping down the turtle neck jacket. He began to softly kiss my neck.
"Stop!" I bucked my knee forward. Oh god. I shouldn't have done that.
With in seconds he had one hand pinning my two down and his other hand holding my jaw.
He grinned and smiled before he said something.
"Yo-"
He was cut off by three fairly loud gunshots. Malika ran, grabbing his stuff and bow and bolted it. I gasped for air as I was slumped over. I quickly whipped my head up and looked around. I saw it.
The small lonesome house. I squinted my eyes to see him in the door way. There he was, my hero. Holding a pistol to the sky. He was staring back at me. I suddenly broke out of the daze and grabbed my stuff. I ran back to my truck, throwing my stuff in, not even worrying about Malika. I left his stuff here alone in the mud.
All that went through my mind that Sunday evening was. Him.
