" "Echo!" Someone says from downstairs. I rush to get dressed into a traditional Nightfall dress, which is a quite ugly outfit that we must wear every year in Planet Partayyy, which is when the flowers start blooming and when Nightfall comes, when they send innocent children to a city far away from the rest of society and see how kids would run a civilization but after that all the kids are killed off except one, if you are between three and eighteen, you have a shot at being chosen. And it's not a good thing, either. I put my black sweater on underneath the Nightfall dress.
I slide down the railing of the stairs and my mom takes my sister, who is ten, outside and into the hover port where we get on our boards and ride through the long clear tube that will take us to the Hot Sawse Square, directly. We arrive at Lab, which is twelve o'clock. Electricity is already standing on the large platform in front of us, ready to tell us someone's Fate. "Welcome everyone to the one hundredth Nightfall! Tonight we choose one child to go to Cinder and the rest will go in a Foratemple week! Once all the children get there one child usually declares war and armies are made. Killing many of the kids. The survivors end up killing each other leaving one child." She pauses. "Let's go ahead and pick the name, shall we?" The audience cheers. "Echo Seline!"my heart STOPS my smile fades. I was chosen. I am scared, for myself, and my family. Will someone please help me?
After the Nightfall choosing ceremony, I get a text from Electricity. "Hello, Echo! You will be taken to Cinder in three hours you can bring three pairs of clothes and a small portion of food. Best Regards, Electricity." The text says. I begin packing.I don't care what the rule is I am bringing at least ten pairs of clothes and multiple packs of freeze dried foods. I know all three continents, Flonga, Meme and Üb is counting on me, let alone the entire planet of Ituxy. I just need to survive until the others get to Cinder in a Foratemple week. Which will take all four of the ever's. I keep telling myself don't die, don't die, don't die, don't die, please. I tell my mom and sister goodbye. I definitely did not cry (wink, wink) . I run to my hover and I ride through the tube to the Station where there is a starship that will take me to Cinder. I see a planet that is known as Earth. It was abandoned in the third era. We land at an abandoned airport and from there we fly one of the airplanes. I see a City on the the horizon and seeing that I know I am close. As the city comes into view more I can see skyscrapers, large buildings, parks, homes, hotels, and a large statue in the water, it has a bluish tint, it looks like it's a lady holding a torch up. Everything here looks so- STOOOOPPIDDDD. They land at yet another airport and I am shoved out and my bag is thrown out the window then the door is slammed behind me. By the time I turn around the plane is already off into the sky. Leaving me and the cameras videoing my every move so the world can watch. "So that's what the feeling of being watched feels like." I pause assuming that people are laughing at me. "Now lets have a look at this place." I pick up some dirt. "What is this oddity? Ha! It's so second era!" I am sure to get a few laughs from that. Shelter. The one thing I need. I see a hotel in the distance maybe a block or two away. I can stay there, tonight. I walk to the hotel. It's nothing like our hotels on Ituxy, but so what. I walk in and there is a large chandelier and a staircase in the center of the lobby. I walk up the stairs and the hall is laced with doors. I walk inside door 102 and inside is just a simple bed and bathroom. I will look at another room. If I'm lucky I will find the suites and I will stay there. I walk up 26 flights of stairs and finally I reach the first suite door. I walk in, unsure of what I will find. Wow. The counters are made of gold and the floor of velvet. the bed has silk blankets and sheets the room is adorned with technology. I feel VERY welcome. I keep walking down the hall to see the other suites I walk in one that is galaxy themed which was a big thing in 2016 of the second era which was over two hundred years ago. This reminds me of the midnight sky at home and the cool breeze that would come through just as you were looking at the moon and- I admit it. I miss home. Real shocker, right? I decide to stay in the galaxy room tonight.
