The sun shines through the penthouse window illuminating the room with a soft glow. I walk out the door and into the hall I first walk to Flame's room which is the gold room and I open the door to see him asleep. "Flame, wake up." I say in the most calming tone I've used in a while. Flame turns and looks up at me. "Good morning, Echo." He smiles the most perfect smile. "Where's Ash?" He asks. "She is in the underwater room." I say.
He gets out of bed and then we both run over to my room. We are going to play an epic prank on Ash. Flame tells me she's afraid of ghosts. I can work with this.
We grab bed sheets from a random room downstairs and make them float using balloons that I found under the bed. We use markers from the lobby to make the "ghosts" have a face. We open up Ash's door and push the ghosts in. Ash screams. "Yes!" Flame and I say in unison. But soon after Ash runs down the hall and into my room. She collapses onto my floor. Her left leg is bent to an awkward position. "Oh darn diddily darn, she's out cold." Flame says nearly to tears. I know I have to help them both. I run downstairs trying to find a first aid kit but there's nothing. I hear Flame's cries get louder and he keeps saying, "Ash, please, wake up." Over and over. I run to Ash's room and I see a box laying on Ash's bed labeled First Aid. I pick up the box and I run next door to my room and Ash still hasn't moved. I hand Flame the box. "Echo, will you put a cast on her leg? I will make sure she wakes up and is fine." He says with tears streaming down his face. I put the cast on Ash, but she still isn't waking up and Flame checks her pulse. There is none. I can't resist it any longer. I just give Flame a hug. We are both crying and scared of the fact Ash is dead. "I'm sorry." He says. "We need to bring Ash outside. There she will be picked up and taken home to be buried." Flame only nods. We carry her outside and five minutes later a large airplane lands and people in suits pick her up and carry her inside the plane. The hatch shuts and the plane is gone once more. Flame looks at me and with a shaky voice he begins to sing.

Young girl, don't cry
I'll be right here when your world starts to fall
Young girl, it's alright
Your tears will dry, you'll soon be free to fly

His voice gets louder and more confident. I wipe my own tears away

When you're safe inside your room you tend to dream
Of a place where nothing's harder than it seems
No one ever wants or bothers to explain
Of the heartache life can bring and what it means

I smile big smile

When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
You'll learn to begin
To trust the voice within

I remember this song. It's stupid but it's still one of the bad songs from that time.

I begin to sing along.

The story of Nightfall is stupid.

When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
You will learn to begin
To trust the voice within

We both sing a little louder on that part.

I let Flame have that last line. I have learned even with how short Ash's life was there's always a brighter side to it. Sometimes fear is just a crutch for bravery. And I just took them off. I for the first time have courage in myself and Flame. I will survive.
